You Khin house, as described by the previous reviewer is truly a hidden paradise in Phnom Penh.

Tuk-tuks don't always know where it is, make sure you have the address and know where it is on the map before heading there.

The guest house is located on a quiet street, round the corner from an excellent restaurant Malis.

The walls are adorned with paintings by the late You Khin and the guest house has been very tastefully decorated with local Khmer décor. It really is one of a kind.

The four ladies kitchen serves excellent food at very reasonable prices.

All staff at the guest house are so kind, helpful and courteous.

This definitely deserves to be rated #1 in Phnom Penh.

A great little authentic Cambodian guest house tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city though easily accessible by tuk tuk. Everything you could possibly need but not over the top, air con, pool, nice bathroom, gorgeous staff. The restaurant is run by four lovely Khmer ladies who help to support their families by sharing the work. The tuk tuk driver associated with the hotel is one of the husbands and is a happy humble guy. The ease of having an honest driver at hand was marvellous. Highky recommended. Juliette

We booked two stays prior to our arrival in Phnom Penh. Our choice was made due to the TA ratings. Luckily I had used google maps to find the place and I had to lead the taxi driver to You Khin. It was located down an obscure laneway and once through the small lane way door it opened up to the oasis it is. A very pleasant restaurant, seating and pool area. Also downstairs there are several covered open spaces that are used for some lessons ect. The small school joins through a side door. The rooms are very pleasant, spacious and comfortable. The young Cambodian lady who manages the guesthouse is one of the most pleasant and intelligent young people that I have ever met. She was tireless and always had a smile. The 4 ladies restaurant was also a bonus, we had our breakfast each morning and only one meal. But their service and smiles were priceless. Only downside was a young frenchman who worked there, pleasant enough, but he booked some onward travel and his bad advice nearly set us back a day. Luckily commonsense caused me to ignore his advice and we made our connection. We returned to the You Khin for a second stint and again were not dissapointed. I have told others and would stay there again myself.

It has been a great honor for me and my staff to feel appreciated by our guests and I wish I could respond and say thank you to each and everyone of you who were kind enough to spare time to write a review on You Khin House. We are aware of our shortcomings and they are numerous. But all the guests who have passed by our place were special people who looked beyond our weaknesses and saw our real nature and that is, we are genuine people. Whatever we do we do it with our heart and it is with my heart that I say a big thank you here to all our guests who have supported us one way or another. Thanks to you, our school have grown. Thanks to you, the future looks more promising.

We've been to Phnom Penh several times, and never thought such a tranquil haven could exist in such a busy city! Tucked down a backstreet, on entering the guest house you feel like you are in another world. The house was designed by the architect You Khin and his art adorns the walls, giving the whole place a very special feel. The staff were all wonderful, exceedingly friendly and helpful. The four ladies kitchen produced good value food and it will definitely be our place to stay if we ever return. Thanks so much to everyone at You Khin House!

Room Tip: They have a family room which was perfect for us.

We stayed at You Khin House over a 6 day period in Phnom Penh. You Khin is situated close to the Russian Embassay and Almond Hotel, down a quiet street. We stayed in a double room which was perfect and maintained on a daily basis. The staff at You Khin were gracious, helpful and always accommodating. There is a small restaurant attached to You Khin called 'Four Women's' which serves food all day. The women who work at the kitchen are survivors of the Pol Pot regime and have been given work there to assist in continuing to sustain their lives. There is a pool which was perfect after a long day of humid weather, sightseeing and the many 'tuk tuk' offers. It is easy to sit and read a book, swim and eat and due to its location, the quietness of this place is much appreciated. There is a daycare/school next door as well. The 3rd floor has a pool table, big screen tv with cable and a book shelf which was great to use and very comfortable. Although small, You Khin was a great place to stay with great hosts and a homely feel to it.

Room Tip: it is a 30min walk to the main street on the river front - a tuk tuk will get you there $3 each way

The You Khin is the perfect place to stay in the wonderful craziness of Phnom Penh. It is like being part of a special family and you are made to feel at home from the moment you walk into the secluded entrance. If having the perfect pillow is the most important part of your hotel stay then You Khin is probably not for you but if you want clean, spacious rooms, a nice pool to cool down in, great cocktails and an excellent menu prepared by the four special ladies then this is the place for you. At the same time, whilst you are staying here you are also supporting the wonderful school next door (visit if you can). The staff felt more like friends than staff by the time we left and it was one of the best parts of an extended tour of Cambodia.

Room Tip: Room four was perfect for our three teenage kids

It's very simple: you can hardly wish for a better service, better accomodation and better food in the category of a bed and breakfast.

I can hardly think of any place that deserves its 5 points more than the You Khin House.

It's small, charming and welcoming.
The whole team is not simply doing a job, but you can really see that they love what they do. The result of their efforts matches the working attitude.

I guess that part of the equasion is the fact that the main purpose of this guest house is to generate the money needed to support the attached school, where 84 children are being taken care of in lovely conditions. This is a source of pride and motivation for the whole team.

The heart and sould of both the hotel and the school is Muoy You, a woman that impressed us with her energy, her rich culture and the positive energy that surrounded her. Don't miss the chance to meet her and talk to her when you are there.

Oh, and one more thing:
When somebody promotes something that serves a higher cause (like in this case the guest house that helps the school) I always have the feeling that somebody is trying to sell me an somewhat inferior service "for a good cause" :-)

No signs of this here - you can simply regard it as a perfect place where you will feel at home.
