“Good location”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

We made the journey from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh by bus but when you arrive at Phnom Penh the bus station is quite a way out of town. When you step off the bus you get swarmed by tuk tuk drivers and taxis. We paid $3 for the trip to Eureka Villas.

Phnom Penh is a really busy city especially compared with Siem Reap but Eureka villas is a small hotel that is slightly out of the madness but in a really good location. The Golden Palace is on the next street and the promenade a short walk past the palace.

Eureka has a reasonable sized pool for a city centre hotel. We had a good spacious room (number 13) with a king size bed, shower room, complimentary water, coffee and tea, hair dryer etc and a choice of cooked breakfasts in the morning that I found very satisfactory and set us up for the day. It was also very clean.

The staff are really helpful and cheerful.

There are tuk tuks outside the hotel and you can agree prices quite easily. We hired one for the day for $15 and we were taken to the genocide museum, the killing fields (a good half hour drive away) and a drive around the sights of Phnom Penh.

I would definitely return

The best thing about thisplace apart from the great saltwater pool at the front by the bar, is the STAFF, very friendly, helpful and great just for a chat. Our boys loved this place, only 15 rooms. Again the staff are its asset, especcially looking after our boys fussy food requirements. Good selection of western food and some Khmer. Good Tuk Tuk drivers outside at the ready at good rates. Close to all you need in Phnom Penh, very short walk to the palace and Museum. Good hotel if you have family, very clean , comfortable. But for us the best thing was the Cambodian staff, thanks for a great stay, see you again soon !

The hotel was just by the Palace and walking distance to the river. The rooms were lovely with good quality fittings. The bedroom and bathroom were large with all amenities. We were given room 11 downstairs but the manager was very helpful and moved us upstairs.
The pool was refreshing and breakfast was just what we wanted. Very good value for money.

Room Tip: Try not to have room 11 downstairs

This is a great quality hotel for the price. The room was lovely and attention to detail fantastic - they even leave real milk for the tea/ coffee instead of the dreaded powder stuff. The pool was equally lovely. My only slight disappointment was with the service side. We were told we couldn't have food delivered to our room - fair enough - so we showered dressed etc and arrived downstairs at 9pm to be told the kitchen was shut when clearly the hotel details stated it closed at 10pm. The next day we asked about help with buses to Kep which apparently they can't book - fair enough - but when I asked if they could find out with a quick call what time the buses went I was told I would have to go to the station myself to ask.
Everything about the facilities and attention to detail was so good we were surprised not to be welcomed with a cold refreshing hand towel or drink which was the case in many lesser standard hotels.
The standard of the room and general facilities however were so good that it would be unfair to not to give this hotel 5 perhaps we just got them on a rare bad day and our stay was still great and we would still highly recommend..

Was late to book my recent trip to Phnom Penh and only managed to get a room for one night. The reason its so popular is that it's very good value for money and the crew are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are homely, well thought out, and everything works.
Menu could do with a bit of a revamp, but what is served up is quiet acceptable.
Eureka Villas is well located, within walking distance of the riverfront restaurant and bar area and Royal Palace.
Friendly tuk-tuk drivers are right out front; avoid the pushy guys a couple of doors away.

We loved the ambiance - happy staff who were very welcoming at any time of day/night, clean surroundings and clean rooms. The delightful sight of the pretty pool and surrounds with a bar on the side, with people from all nations gathered around to share adventures and accents, and the very friendly staff happy to learn new phrases of languages from all guests and practice over breakfast each morning made our stay at Eureka Villas a happy one. Nothing was too much trouble to the staff, and the rapport with tuk-tuk drivers at the gate ensured we got to where we wanted to without hassle. We took a Eureka Villas card with us in case on the return journey the tuk-tuk driver didn't know the way, but close proximity to the palace ensured there was no problem. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We had a ground floor and there was no noise problems for us. I didn't get the impression that i...
