“It really is an urban oasis”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

As a semi-regular visitor to Phnom Penh, I knew about the Plantation but had never had the opportunity to stay there. This changed on my last visit - and I have to say, it is the best place I have stayed in Phnom Penh. It is stylish, comfortable and is professionally run.

The rooms are more than comfortable, with an open plan bathroom, a very cosy king size 4-poster bed, and both a ceiling fan and a/c. The best part of the hotel, however, is the outside pool area. The pool is large allowing for laps and the salas that surround the pool are stylish and comfortable.

Breakfast is typical of hotels in the city, but is more than adequate. While I didn't eat any other meal there, I did sample the evening cocktail menu - the house cocktail, the Plantation is well worth a sip or two!

The Plantation is in a great location - a short tuk tuk ride or slightly longer walk from great shopping and eating locations (178 Street and 240 Street), and is run by veryu friendly and professional staff.

After quite a few trips to the city, I have found a hotel that really suits. Highly recommended!

Soo beautiful... the swimming pool surrounded by beds from which you can directly go down to the water : just gorgeous.
Rooms are nice. Breakfast was average when I first got there in january 2012, but the hotel was merely opening (2 weeks of activity) so this might have changed by now.

We had not visited Phnom Penh before but I had researched where the highlights were so chose the Planatation because of its location to all the attractions.
We were not disappointed. Our suite was very roomy and tastefully decorated and we had a small balcony overlooking the pool but still with enough privacy to sit outside and not been seen from the pool.
We dined in the restaurant there and the food was fantastic. Wine choices were also excellent.
The breakfast, which was included in the tariff, was also very good and sitting by the pool each morning made it even better.
We made a reservation for a private car to Siem Reap through the hotel and everything went smoothly and efficiently.
The location is great....handy to the riverside and also the Palace and other attractions.
Would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

The hotel isn't exaggerating when it positions itself on its website as an urban oasis. Right in the heart of Phnom Penh hustle bustle, it is a calm and chilled out space in which to recharge batteries.

The hotel is in a 1930's building with some attractive modern additions. High ceilings;attractive tiled floors; pools and water features and lanterns make for a stylish and relaxed little haven. Deluxe rooms on the ground floor are perfect. Our twin had two good sized beds with mosquito nets; cushions for lounging; decent bathroom and outside terrace which felt private due to the palms and lush vegetation - just half a minute's walk to the beautiful pool.

The cabanas to lounge in; sun loungers and perfect service make it hard to leave the pool. A spa is just off this area and does excellent massages. All hotel staff spoke excellent English and were consistently friendly and attentive.

Throughout the day, staff brought a complementary fruit plate and a smoothie. This made the breakfast arrangement even more strange. A ready brewed pot of tea was the only free option and the same for coffee. Any other tea/coffee was charged for such as a cappuccino or earl grey, which seems odd in a decent hotel.

Cracking location. You can walk to 178 street (near Friends) which has some interesting galleries and shops. Stylish 240 street is nearby too as is the Royal Palace. The hotel helpfully advises what you should expect to pay as tuk tuk rates to popular attractions near by. This hotel has become a firm favourite with me.

The is one of my favourite hotels in Cambodia. Elegant, stylish, truly boutique with friendly, helpful staff.

The poolside area has plenty of space and sun loungers so that you never feel crowded by the other guests. The pool is deliciously cooling and a decent size should you wish to do some lengths.

Hotel ideally located close to Royal Palace and the cafés and boutiques on 240 and 178 street. Only a few min tuk tuk ride to waterfront.

The hotel has some lovely dining recommendations, including the China House and cultural activities.

The spa is conveniently located by the pool and offers relaxing and traditional massages all reasonably priced.

An excellent place to stay and relax, will definitely come back.

This place was great. The location was ideal, just behind the Royal Palace. The pool is fabulous. The service was very friendly and helpful. The room was not very big and it overlooked an abandonned house but it was comfortable enough. The breakfast was very good.

Excellent service as soon as you walk in. Room was spacious and clean, nice bathroom as well. Pool was fantastic, everyone who worked their went out of their way to help. Highly recommend asking for the room next to the meeting room for added privacy.
