We stayed at the plantation for four nights. The place is definitely a pleasant surprise as we were first timers visiting Cambodia, and off course didn't know what to expect. Do not be put off by the side street entrance, as soon as you make way into the hotel you'll discover what a little gem this place is. The hotel has a lovely setting, a small pool and pool bar at the entrance, a restaurant on top and the lobby follows, and as you make your way through you'll find the main pool were breakfast is served. We enjoyed the little covered decks by the pool were we would enjoy cocktails and a swim. The food quality at the hotel is good. The staff mean well though some of them do struggle with English at times. The breakfast service is good but can also be a bit slow. We were slightly disappointed with the room at first which seemed different than what pictures showed when we booked, but we didn't mention anything. We loved the soaps! Visiting the killing fields or s21 the staff will advice you how much you should pay for the tuk tuk not to be overcharged. Overall we did enjoy our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others.

We didn't stay here, but went as a day visitor to lounge round their pool one day. Pool use is $5, which is redeemable against a drink, so basically the pool is free. Most other hotels accepting day visitors to their pools charge $5-8.
Drinks are not overpriced - coke $1.80, beer from $2, bottle of decent sav blanc in an ice bucket $22. The food was very good too and no more expensive than the riverside places. Best of all we had the pool to ourselves as the main pool for hotel guests only is elsewhere in the complex.
A nice place, completely hidden by its roadfront concrete wall.

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel and enjoyed the facilities whilst there. Staff were always friendly and attentive without being overbearing in this. The room was nice, well air conditioned, comfortable bed and clean. I really appreciated the day bed in the room as it's nice to have somewhere other than a bed to relax. I liked the open plan of the bathroom. I did have a cold shower one morning however this is ok as its so warm.
The pool was lovely, nice pool chairs and quite private cabanas. Drinks and food by the bar was also really nice, tended to have some snacks and drink in the afternoon and it was really tasty. Breakfast very nice, egg station and buffet with plenty of options. Ate in the restaurant also and again great options on the menu.
Had a massage which was nice but have had better and the staff not as friendly here. Basic but good gym equipment available too
Good location too with an easy walk to good restuarants and the river area.
Would definiitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Phnom Penh

This is an excellent hotel and great value. Service was great , good was good, the pool was terrific as there are not many hotels at this price with pools. In a good location near the river and restaurants .

Before guests start complaining about the minor details in the hotel, I have to remind you that you are paying peanuts for a luxury hotel room with an environment that resembled aptly a Plantation. Something like this would have costed you an arm and a leg in Singapore. The staff ratio here is high and so, guests are well looked after. The staff is attentive and they are eager to please. The tour de force of this hotel would have to be the swimming pool and the cabanas that are sprouting around its perimeter. It's simply a cosy place to be. The cocktail bar and the restaurant is facing the pool and naturally, that's a popular congregation area. There's also a tinier pool by the front entry for people who are looking for more privacy and it's ideal for a family to have the pool for themselves. There's a fine restaurant on the first floor and in the evening, it's absolutely delightful to be there amid the fairy lights whilst the hustle bustle of the street is kept at bay. For those of you that are looking for massage or foot reflexology and spa, there's a health centre by the pool too. The architect did a fine job in converting a former administrative building into a world class hotel / resort. The food there is of a high standard & the presentation is brilliant too. There are power fans dotted everywhere to rid of flies that could potentially be a nuisance during dining. The breakfast is brilliant too. The format of the Plantation is that every and each rooms are their own oasis where shrubs and trees are planted to conceal them from the outside world. Whilst it's true that when we are travelling, we should be out there exploring, there also comes a time when we need to chillaxing and there's nowhere else that I would rather be other than being inside the compound of the Plantation for a change. That being said, what other guests said is true, hot water is inconsistent at best. You needn't worry about needing to exchange of money considering that ATM is across from the hotel. Like moth attracted to the fire, tuk-tuk drivers are forever lingering outside waiting to pick up passengers and yes, do haggle with them because many of them made this assumption that if we can afford to stay here, that means we can pay hefty charge. Sorry, we may stay here but we may not be stupid! The service provided here is extensive considering that it could arrange transports for guests to other cities and that, they could arrange tours too. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here & I vowed to return someday. Yes, location is superb. The Palace is behind the hotel but be mindful also that this is also the swampy area of Phnom Penh and when it rains during the monsoon season, this place is most definitely going to flood.

So true the description as an ‘oasis of calm’ in Phnom Penh. Surprisingly quiet, with a beautiful pool area surrounded by cabanas and sun loungers, tastefully decorated and with great service. Breakfast was decent and the upstairs restaurant also surprised on the upside for value and quality. Service was efficient and friendly.

For the not-so-good. I had read a previous review about the noisiness of an air conditioning unit… well; I think we had the room next door in 2101, because we also experienced the same issue. On night 1, it wasn’t too much of a problem – audible, but we were so tired that we just crashed out. However on night 2, it was a louder incessant hum and definitely an impediment to sleeping. Given we were only there 2 nights, we let it pass; however if I’d been staying another night I would have asked to move. I also suggest that the hotels upgrade their towels – they were rather threadbare!

We only had the basic / standard room which had a very open style bathroom and a rather ugly view on to a building site so kept our curtains closed. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone to stay however would suggest paying the extra dollars (it’s a pretty low rate anyhow) to have a deluxe room with a bigger / enclosed bathroom, away from the air con unit, and a view of the pool area which is extremely pleasant.

We had a mixed stay at The Plantation.

Before mentioning anything else, the location is fantastic. Close to the palace and the waterfront and many good restaurants and bars. I do not think we could have been in a better spot.

The main reception building itself is charming and colonial, but the hotel itself is not in this building. The rooms, pool and pool-side area are all newly built and are of a relatively high standard (although there were minor cleanliness issues throughout the hotel).

Service was very hit and miss. We were grateful for an earlyish check-in but this seemed to be given quite grudgingly, which was unnecessary. After that service was friendly but a bit hapless (especially at the reception desk, where service was genuinely poor).

The quality of the breakfast was so-so, but lunch was good, as were cocktails at the bar.

We enjoyed our stay but The Plantation fell below our high expectations, given the previous reviews.
