Jan 6th we are staying here and although not quite finished, we are thoroughly enjoying our stay.
The location is excellent, the hotel beautiful -yes there is still some work going on but it's out of the way of our rooms. The pool is wonderful, the staff are attentive And friendly, the place has a lot of guests all whom are friendly and happy to be here. The manager is super helpful. We are with 3 children, I am sure later it will be not quite so child friendly and I don't blame them! It's an urban oasis and I feel lucky to find it early, it's just beautiful. We have a pool twin room, there are private shaded poolside shaded enclosures, the restaurant is close and has plenty of staff. The meals are small but tasty.

Improvements would be security chain on doors, small table on veranda, leaflets in room but these are minor details.

I would recommend this hotel as one that will go from strength to strength once the small finishing touches are added.

Thanks for a wonderful oasis in cambodia

We stayed here over Christmas. It's going to be a great hotel, but they had obviously rushed to open it for the Christmas peak season, and only about a third of the rooms were actually in use. First the good stuff - the rooms are great, funky and really well appointed. Our room was spacious with a view over the pool, very clean and well arranged. The pool itself is plenty big enough to swim in, and there are lovely salas and loungers around, with a bar/ restaurant at one end. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and they helped us book bus tickets. Now the not so good stuff - the breakfast (included in our booking) was quite average, and the F&B wasn't really ready to go when we were there - staff didn't know what we'd ordered, we never ended up with all the components of the set breakfast any of the days we stayed, and one time we ended up with someone else's bill! There is construction work ongoing at the moment, although the noise was not intrusive, and (mercifully) didn't start until the late morning.
We knew that the hotel had recently opened, and expected a bit of disorganisation, so all this didn't really bother us too much. Once it is in full swing, this will be a great place to stay in PP

Many thanks for this kind review!

It is true that we are not quite there but we must be finishing the reception of the Spa in the next two days (before January 7) and as we are mostly doing the paint job, we should not have a lot of noise. I hope the Spa will be operational by January 15 - that is if things go right. Thanks a lot to all our guests that suffered all the drilling and hammering of last week! What an adventure this has been!

Hope you will enjoy it now...

Cheers,

Alexis

The hotel has been, or, better said, was supposed to have been recently renovated and reopened in November 2011. The truth is, that nearly 2 months after re-opening, we were staying in the middle of a construction site. From 8am onwards, we were surrounded by sounds of grinders and jakckhammers. There are small parts missing in the rooms, corridors, restaurant, such as lightbulbs, lamps, plants in empty flowerpots. That would be fine if the hotel staff and management reflected this somehow: said something, explained the situation, if the information was openedly published on hotel's web. The second problem is the very young inexperienced staff that barely speaks any major European language (English would have been enough). This was actually the first hotel ever in my life that does not have a single paper, leaflet, brochure in the room: yes, no room service menus, no telephone numbers, no info at all. When we arrived at breakfast, we were given a menu with prices, rather confusing when it is supposed to be included in the room price; we ended up asking the only guy in the reception, not restarant (!), who's English was good enough to get what are we asking for. Apart from these strange small fails, the hotel has great location, its design is great. However, considering 70 $ per night, high in Cambodia, the level of service should be way better.

Dear Rattle7,

I am very sorry that you were disappointed with your stay at the Plantation. We opened this new hotel on December 19, and indeed we were not completely done with the training and the works. Not easy during the first week of operation!

Everyday that goes we improve our services and things should be smooth after the first month of operation.

I hope our guests will still enjoy this incredible setup and location, with the 1930 French colonial villa and the half hectare of green space right next to the Royal Palace and National Museum, which we were lucky to develop.

Cheers,

Alexis
