Booked a 1 night stay through the Accorhotels.com. Since no airport pickup/transfer were offered, took the ‘tuk2’ but did a detour to the Killing Fields and Russion Market. Initially the driver offered it USD25, but upon hearing we stayed at Sofitel it somehow came to USD35.. LOL.
Location :- The hotel is not too near to the city attractions. The main entrance is quite awkward since it’s facing a small street rather than facing the main big street which usually such hotels are built. Some ‘tut2” even had a hard time finding the entrance.
Check-in :- Check-in was smooth, done while having the welcome drink (Lemon Grass Tea). Room was ready upon check-in and the staff “Mr. Main” greeted and attended to us in a way that was so welcoming.
Lobby :- The lobby was nice and fragrant. Staffs were very welcoming and it somehow created quite a high benchmark for hotel hospitality.
Room :- We were given a room on the high floors as requested. Local fruits were ready in the room and everything was nice and clean.
Bathroom :- The bathroom was very clean and well-maintained. The amenities given were “nice” but a shaver would be good to add.
View :- Great view but was a bit disturbed by the direct views of a construction site right beside us. Well, at least we know in a few years’ time, a mall will be beside this hotel. Also had a partial view of the river. Did not spend time in the balcony due to the dust from constructions.
Food :- We did not have any meals at the hotel considering we wanted to look for “halal” food at the town.
Remarks :- Through the reservation system, I noted that the trip was in conjunction with my wife’s b’day. We were very surprised that coming back in the evening after a short trip to the town, a b’day cake, an A4 hand coloured drawing and a note from the hotel was ready on the table in the room. It was just great….
p/s :- Everything was just superb. Couldn’t have asked for more. The hotel seems to have their own uniformed ‘tut2’ around, so getting one to go for a tour or a place was not a problem.
Would very much love to come back to this hotel if there were any trips to Phnom Penh.
