I don't know how long the Sofitel has been in Phnom Penh but the hotel looks like it's brand new. The staff are excellent: friendly and professional without being obsequious. The hotel seems way too big for a city the size of Phnom Penh. If the city were smaller, I'd say it was out of the way, but really, in a city this small, what does it matter that the Sofitel is located a few minutes further from the Grand Palace than most other places. Given the extent of the grounds, the place does feel a bit isolated, and the views from the rooms leave a lot to be desired, but the rooms themselves are very plush and comfy, if a bit bourgeois. The hotel designer must have been Thai, because it has the look of one of those mega-hotels in a Thai provincial capital: you know the kind, that are just too big for the size of the city that they're in. The breakfast buffet, however, is excellent and the variety is lavish but not quite obscene. I prefer some of the smaller, more centrally located hotels in Phnom Penh, but the Sofitel was good for a business conference.

I am a frequent visitor to Phnom Penh and tried the Sofitel for the first time. Greeted by the Resident Manager Frederik and then promptly checked in and roomed, it all started very well. And continued so! The Lobby Bar service and breakfast were efficient, speedy and extremely friendly. The Deluxe room is just spacious enough, well designed (loved the bathroom) and the bedding very comfortable indeed. it is a very good and pleasant choice for both leasure and of course business.

Room Tip: Highest fkoor the better!

Excellent hotel, a short distance from the main sights, but the standout is the staff.
The local staff, in particular Vuthy, the butler on the Club level, are amazing. Vuthy couldn't go out of his way enough to help us, particularly with our Khmer language questions and directions. Very attentive.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

In Phom Penh in mid September, we stayed at the Sofitel. The location was spectacular, overlooking the magnificent Mekong River, and our room overlooked it; everything from the lobby and the staff's welcome as we entered, was warm and friendly; our room was large, elegantly, yet simply decorated, and the large bathroom appointed for relaxation after a long day's exploration of a bustling city... this was all the more welcome that September is hot and humid. Breakfast there was outstanding, almost too much choice for greedy me! The location easily invites you to take a walk along the river, when the evening is cooler, it also makes it convenient to explore the city on your own, on foot or by tuk-tuk: and the neighborhood is quite safe so we could stop and gawk at the buildings which have been preserved or restored. The staff speaks English, and/or French, fluently so you barely have time to wish for something before it is gracefully provided.

Room Tip: The higher, the better to get a wonderful view of the river (all are nice and quiet it seems). Non...

I just returned from a trip to Bangkok and Cambodia. We traveled extensively thru Cambodia and my favorite hotel was the Sofitel in Phnom Penh.
I love Phnom Penh, it was a very lively city with lots of cute little shops and cafe's.
The Sofitel is on the River and is a new hotel.
The hotel is beautiful! The lobby, the restaurants, the pool, spa etc.
I loved our room. It is modern and large. The bed was great and so comfortable. The shower had a rain shower and hand shower and I turned them both on, fantastic!
Our view was of the pool and river and really nice! I was not able to use the pool or spa because we were too busy but I went to see both and they were great!
We ate in the main restaurant for breakfast daily and they had such a great spread. I loved the Dim Sum, it was wonderful.
Their gift shop had things that I could not find anywhere else and they were priced reasonable.
The staff could not do enough for you, they were so accommodating.
I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers as well as tourists.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the view of the River. They also have a club floor that is really nice.

We stayed at this hotel the beginning of September, what a wonderful 1st impression of Cambodia. I can't wait to return, the staff were outstanding so warm and inviting. The location was close to everything and yet you felt as if you were miles from anything! Our room was incredible with the most comfortable bed, great view of the river. Breakfast had many choices making it very easy to find something that you loved. I can not say enough about the staff and their attention to details. Sofitel was exquisite and I can't wait to send my family and friends to experience!

Dear Madam,

We thank you for your positive review on Tripadvisor.

Indeed we are located in the center of Phnom Penh yet on a quit place. It is as convenient for leisure as it is for business purposes.

We can tell that Sofitel MyBed had a great impact on you, as it usually does. I like it too! Sofitel Luxury Hotels has implemented a unique bed concept that feels like sleeping on fluffy clouds.

What truly made me proud of all our Ambassadors was your mentioning their helpfulness and friendliness. We have implemented a very high standard of service but our genuine human touch is our main asset. We love to indulge our guests and are so pleased to make them happy.

We look forward to your next stay as well for the holidays of your friends and family. Please tell them to reach out to me personally so we can ensure that their stay is five stars as well.

\With very best regards,
Frederik Deman
