Description: The Lone Star Saloon is a Texas themed bar and grill located in Central Phnom Penh just a few yards away from the st. 51 entertainment district. We specialize in Southern home cooking. Our menu features Chicken Fried Steak, Slow Smoked Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork Sandwiches.....and many more southern favorites. We are open early for breakfast and stock a full bar. We are primarily an expat's bar, although our staff and clientele are extremely friendly and we can help newbies navigate their way around the city..or the country. We are a family run business and we treat our customers as family. We strive to provide good value for money with inexpensive drinks and healthy food portions. We are not in any way a girlie bar.........just a friendly saloon.

“Not All That Special, Really”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

This is a decent expat bar where you can get a good variety of alcoholic beverages and people from some parts of the States will doubtless be reminded of home by the Americana, Confederate flags, cutesy signs and so on. But the reason we came was to have Mexican food. The soft tacos we had were quite decent but at $5.50 for a couple of tacos you can do better for your money in this town. Of course if you have a hankering for tacos precisely, you can't get them too many places, but this is only a good eating out option if you want Mexican in particular. And even on that note, we had better Mex in Sihaoukville and Siem Reap. It isn't exactly a great dining area either as there are just a couple of tables in the same room as the bar. Still, didn't mind hearing the rock soundtrack. Basically this is an average option only for us.

Hello,

Thanks for your visit and for taking the time to review the Lone Star. For 5.50.........we provide not two, but three soft tacos that are stuffed full. Your review states that we are only a good option for Mexican........however our specialty is southern American home cooking. I hope you will visit again and try our: slow smoked baby back ribs, chicken fried steak, meatloaf...........or some other of our home cooked Texas recipes.

“Great Food, Great People, Great...”

I'm a fan. Go there when in Phnom Penh, especially for breakfast and football (the American type). The family who runs the place are absurdly friendly. It can be a little hard to find, so check a map before going. Eat anything that comes from his smoker. That is my suggestion. And tequila. Drink tequila there too. Great selection.

“Expected more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

Expected more after reading some TA reviews, it was just all very average with no real wow factor. From decor, to service, to presentation, to taste, just all very average. However the price was more than average.

“The Lone Star”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Figured I had to give this a try since I'm from Texas. The Chicken Fried Steak was just bland for my liking and nothing special, but considering it's Phnom Penh, I guess one cannot be too choosy. The cole slaw was quite good as was the french fries and iced tea. This place is really 99% bar, as they only have one table and a bunch of bar stools. Overall, I would eat here again, though I would try something different next time.
