Made a reservation for an anniversary dinner and everyone was extremely nice. Food was great, staff was very pleasant and attentive. They surprised us by bringing us a complimentary cake for our anniversary also. We will definitely be back.

We dined at the lovely French inspired Topaz as a special treat after a few weeks trekking through Cambodia. It was a welcomed relief after a so many days eating on the go. We washed off the dirt, prettied ourselves up and grabbed a tuk tuk over to the restaurant which is only 8 or so minutes from Central market if the traffic isn't too bad.

It was lush with greenery as you walked down the path to the entrance past an underlit pond. Admittedly I started wondering if the pond fish was on the menu (maybe it was because I was so famished).

The staff are strictly trained and formal and the large tables are perfectly placed within the softly lit dining room, far enough apart not to hear conversations and close enough for it to add to lively atmosphere.

The menu was very balanced - dark/white meat, seafood, vegetarian as well as some specials including foie gras (delicious). The wine list is pretty fantastic (skewed French) for the middle of a third world country and it is surprisingly inexpensive.

The food was excellent and cooked to perfection (thank you for the perfect eye filet) and our even need was attentively taken care of including a missing fork and napkin on the floor.

Topaz is a little bit of culinary heaven in an often chaotic country. If you need a break, need to be spoiled for a night, this place is exactly what you are looking for (and probably need)!

I've been to Topaz twice now, both times for my birthday. Once in 2012 and now in 2015. It is still consistently good quality food and service.

My boyfriend told them it was my birthday, so we had the best table reserved and they added a little extra touch by sprinkling the table with rose petals. Food was fantastic, as you would expect for the price in this country.

I had lobster bisque followed by rack of lamb, beautifully cooked. Couldn't fit in dessert so can't comment!

It's nice to see this place is still as good as my first visit 3 years ago.

Very good food, elegant atmosphere, professional service, and excellent wine selection. It's quite expensive and can feel slightly pretentious or over the top, but it's a good place to bring important business colleagues. The outdoor area is particularly lovely.
