“A little tired - no tea and coffee ”
Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

We stayed for 4 nights and after reading the reviews didn't think they were talking about the same hotel.
The room was very dark, the pool full of leaves and the garden rather sad. There was no tea and coffee in the room and only green tea available at breakfast. I think it is over priced at $75 a night compared to the pavilion and other similar hotels. It could be good but needs some work.

What a brilliant place. Close by the restaurants, shops but away from the bright lights and noise of the late night revelers.
The staff are fantastic, helpful, cheerful and always around.
The Tuk-tuk drivers are very good, especially Mr Chan who knows his way around so very well.
A negative is the breakfast, a limited menu and many times items are not available but on street 240 a shart walk away (The Shop) is open early and the food excellent.

Was a clean small hotel in a pretty good spot. Rooms were very basic but clean and tidy. Staff were very helpful and lovely. No lifts so be prepared for big spiral staircases. Lovely gardens and pool average. Only thing was when we left a member of staff arranged a private car for us to Sihanoukville he charged us about $15 more than what we found out after we should pay and what we payed to get back to Phnom Penh. It was late notice so he did help us but he definitely made money out of us and then the driver picked up another passenger along the way so wasn't a private car at all. Not to mention they didn't stop chatting the whole 5 hours.

Regarding to a private taxi to Sihanouk Ville we tried to call several taxis we are used to work with but they were all busy. It was during the politic demonstration in Phnom Penh, at this time taxi drivers try to take advantage of the situation. However, we charged the price given by the taxi driver – please keep in mind that Taxi from Phnom Penh to Sihanouk Ville is more expensive than the way back.
We did inform taxi driver that it is a private taxi – we didn’t know unless you wrote it here that he picked up another customer. We are very sorry for what happened.

The pre-booking communication through email was a sign of the level of service we were to experience from this little hotel. My questions were attended to quickly and to the point.

The driver was at the airport waiting for us with a board clearly showing the name of the hotel and my name and it took about 30 minutes to get to the hotel. The driver was very pleasant and conversed in good English, pointing out places of interest along the way.

The hotel itself is on a small quiet street, behind large black metal gates. Not at all impressive on the outside. Behind the gates, lush mature greenery and a sense of calmness envelopes you. And then, the warm smiles and greeting by the staff further reaffirms that we've made the right decision in coming here.

Check in formalities were quick and hassle free and we were escorted to the 1st floor to the Naga room. The room was beautiful....2 large beds in 2 separate areas, just perfect for us and our teenager. We had a large balcony facing the front of the building....lots of green and very nice.

The self controlled aircond was cold and silent and the hot water in the bathroom had good pressure. If still all we had to pick on something, it would be the lightings. Getting on in years, we would have preferred the option to have brighter lights.

Breakfast was at the poolside and the coffee was great!

The pool area was lovely. Not too good to get a tan as the foliage provides good shade. Previous reviews talked about bird poop and the area being dirty, but when we were there, no such thing. One or two leaves would drop into the pool, no big deal at all.

As other fellow reviewers have said, the location is good. Easy walks to the museum, palace, st240, etc. However, if you get too lazy, like we did, tuk tuks would be waiting just outside the gates. USD3 to the central market and USD4 to S-21.

Going back to the hotel, I must mention the people. Absolutely delightful, especially Ratana and Mr Kim. My husband took a fancy to the traditional Cambodian trousers which the staff were wearing and we just mentioned "we like your pants!" casually and next thing you know, Mr Kim brought out a few that we could buy (and we did!) and the staff even taught us how to wear them.

Our teenager fell in love with the keychain which had a bronze figurine of a mystical lion and Mr Kim once again came to the rescue and went out of his way to contact the hotel owner who very kindly agreed to let us have one.

Thank you, Mr Kim, Ratana and staff of Mysteres & Mekong. You've made our short stay in Phnom Penh a very pleasurable one indeed.

The Hotel is in a really nice setting. Old Fench Colonial Style house, pool surrounded by palm trees in an ideal location from the tourist point of view. The staff were very nice, helpful, and the hotel manager took care of everything. Lacks one star only due to lack of own restaurant and not that silent aircon, but I trust they'll sort that out soon :-). If travelling with senior people, take the rooms on the 1st floor, as there is no lift. All in all a very pleasant experience!

Situated in the city center next to the royal palace. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom too and the swimming pool too. The wifi didn't work very well. In front of the entrance there is plenty of garbage and the smell is really awful. Also, the room was pretty expensive.

Great garden with swimming pool and super friendly staff. It´s has this a nice south east Asian charm, maybe for some people (that are used to 4 -5 stars hotels) it could be a bit cleaner. When we come back to Phonm Penh we will stay there again
