River 108 Boutique Hotel
Ranked #45 of 334 Phnom Penh B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 2, 2014

I have stayed and reviewed this hotel before, but this time I stayed in a non-balcony room. There was a window but no view. Not as nice as the balcony room, but definitely quieter. The rooms are large, comfortable, and clean. Internet worked well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Convenient location for access to Riverfront restaurants. I especially like 18 Rik Reay which is on both sides of the hotel entrance. Wonderful food! For the price, River 108 is a great value and remains my preferred hotel in Phnom Penh.

I was supposed to stay here for a couple of days but I checked out early. I really wanted to love the place. The décor was funky and modern, the rooms were large and airy and the bathrooms were pristine BUT the hotel is on the 'main drag'. There were restaurants and bars below the balcony of my suite and the parties went on all night. By the time the revellers had crawled back to their holes, the market place began to fill up, the tuk-tuks began to beep their horns and the riverboats began to let off steam. To drown out the noise, one of the guests put some music on!
I didn't get a wink of sleep. When I complained I was offered a room at the back of the hotel but it had no windows and resembled a prison cell rather than the suite I'd paid for.
The noise was only going to get louder as well - the night market was on the following evening and that's situated right opposite the hotel.
Breakfast was minimal, at a restaurant down the road that only offered a glass of fruit juice, an egg and two strips of bacon. There was no other choice.
I checked out and went to a much nicer and quieter option near the palace.

We loved our stay at the River 108 Boutique. Definitely book a river view -- the balconies are huge with cozy chairs for lounging. The staff is very attentive. The rooms are clean and spacious. Free breakfast is provided in the Fish Restaurant next door.

Small downsides: The breakfast was average (bacon and eggs, omelet, or noodle soup plus coffee/tea and juice).... but you can order a la cart at a small charge. On a weekend you will hear the music from the Night Market across the street (until about 10:30 pm) and on one night the (free) wireless was very slow in our room. However, the pluses and price were so great that even with the small downside items we still felt this hotel deserved a top rating. We will definitely stay there again if returning to Phnom Penh.

Room Tip: Don't forget to book a river view with balcony! (Room #12 is a great choice if available).

The hotel is in an excellent location especially if you are using the ibis bus to travel between destinations in cambodia as the stop in Phnom Penh is just across the street from the hotel, as a sole lady traveller I feel safe staying here the sights are all within walking distance and there are loads of great restaurants within a very short walk located on the river front. Lovely large room with a small balcony with a partial river view (room 2 has best view), clean and nicely furnished. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and arranged a late check out when requested. This is my second stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anybody who wants to stay in a good hotel for a reasonable price.

I stayed at this nice hotel over New Year and was very pleased with the spacious, clean and beautifully decorated room. The bathroom offers a lot of space as well and has a bath tub. There is also a 40 inch flat TV,a hair dryer and a water cooker in the room. Staff is friendly and helpful although -sometimes- I had to wait a bit to receive my key at the reception as night shift staff was asleep at the back of the hotel. One good advice for people booking this hotel is: book a room at the front of the hotel with a view towards the river. The other rooms don't have any view at all. All in all this is a recommendable hotel located directly at the river side with a lot of restaurants around it. I will stay here again when I'm back in PP.

We stayed right after X'Mas in the River 108 Boutique Hotel. As other wrote here, the hotel offers very good value for money, the rooms a spacious, clean and everything works fine. Also - the service we received was always excellent.
The breakfast in the neighbouring Cafe is a good idea, as the hotel iteself would with just 12 rooms never have the capacity to get a good breakfast room running. The Cappuccino ther eis really good.
One thing to mention is the noise level. We stayed from a Friday afternoon till Monday in the hotel and found the noise from outside quite disturbing. From the morning till evening ther eis quite heavy traffic on the main road and at night there was live music from the night market, which was at enormous decibel levels. After that (they usually stopped the music around 10pm/10:30 pm) there is lot's of party going on on the street and early morning there seem to be the long-distnce-bus departures happening right in front of the hotel, so there is loud activity from 6 am again. For people who rather like night-life (lots of bars & red-light district is close by) this is maybe an ideal location, for someone who wants some peace after a long day of sightseeing the rooms facing the road (which are actually the more expensive rooms) should be avoided.

I still give it an overall rating of "very good", as the staff did an excellent job to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our Phnom Penh experience.

Room Tip: If you don't mind noide at (weekend) night, the rooms toward sthe street ar ebrighter and have a...

Stayed here a couple of days. The staff were very helpful. The manager in particular (Sotoon?) went the extra mile and gave us a lot of advice for travelling around Cambodia. The food at the affiliated Fish restaurant was really good as well but wouldn't recommend the breakfast - just order a la carte off the lunch/dinner menu.

The room was a little pricy (Just over USD $100 per night) for its standard but perhaps that is to be expected for high season. It is spacious and the decor feels appropriately rustic as one might expect from a boutique hotel without feeling run-down or dilapidated. If you're expecting a flawless monument of steel and glass, this is the wrong place for you. This castle is made of creaky wooden shutters and cracked stone floors.

The location is not fantastic but not terrible either. Take the tuk-tuks parked outside for USD $1 or $2 to different parts of town if you don't feel like walking.

Don't believe everything you read about Cambodia being a really unsafe place to visit. You'll be fine with some common sense measures like not walking around alone in the middle of the night and keeping your valuables close.
