“Good Location and thats about it.”
Reviewed December 17, 2009

We stayed at the City Centre Hotel for 4 nights during our stay in Phnom Penh. It is apparently a new hotel and the location was very good.

The Central Market was a 10 min walk away and Sisowath Quay was about a 5 minute walk away with all restaurants, shops and bars nearby.

I had booked a double queen size room and the room was presented very well and you could tell it was new with a flat screen tv and many channels. I had requested for a street view but only got a view facing a brick wall.

It is very important for me that I had a safe in the room and on their website it states that all rooms have a safe but that was not the case. Only two rooms in the whole hotel had a room safe.

We had numerous problems during our stay here at the City Centre Hotel. The drain in the shower kept on getting blocked and it was continually flooded and the biggest issue is after a certain time at night there was no hot water available and we had to shower in cold water.

The service was alright but the manager of the hotel's english was not very good at all and he relied a lot on his secretary to do most of the talking.

All in all it was in a good location but the hotel has a lot of issues it has to sort out. We will definitely not stay here again and I will not recommend this place to others.

This hotel is brand-new and therefore it still has it's little troubles.
We ordered a twin room, but only got an incredibly small double room. Also the wifi didn't really work.
On the other hand the staff was very helpful and the location is great.

A new hotel. The newness shows – evertything new and clean, good plumbing, fluffy towels, free wi/fi, enthusiastic staff. They picked us up (free) in the hotel tuk-tuk at the bus station. The bus was 1 hour late and they were there (2 guys!!). In total 6 people were involved in checking us in and getting us to our room – not because of bureaucracy, but because they were around and wanted something to do. Everyone was very helpful. We got a discount by booking directly with the hotel by email.

We had a deluxe twin bedded room. It had a coffee-making facilities, fridge, and desk but we had to ask for chairs to sit at desk (or anywhere else). They arrived quickly. The room was very small. We were told that there was a smaller standard room with a double bed but we did not see it, as the discounted rate on the deluxe was OK. The web site claims they have standard in both double and twin. They must be really cramped, or they must have left out some furniture.

I cannot comment informedly on pricing. It was more expensive than Vietnam, which was where we had come from, as breakfast was not included. Based on an internet reveiw of the alternatives, it seemed OK.

The location is fine. Pub street is nearby, though we preferred to go to the quay, which was only a short walk away, and where there are many restaurants. The hotel sold us our onward bus ticket (to Siem Reap) which was the same price as anywhere else. It was the first they had sold. There is a good cheap laundry, almost next door.

We were happy with our choice of hotel, and the service. Hopefully they will be able to keep up the standards and enthusiasm. Or, maybe, eventually, things will get run down (like much of the rest of Phnom Penh). Subsequent reviews will tell. Our stay was in mid May 2009.

This hotel is fresh and new, with amenities you would expect only in higher priced hotels, such as free wi/fi in the room, flat screen TV's with lots of channels, refrigerator, and coffee/tea maker in the room. Probably the nicest thing is the quality of the beds which are definitely five star. The location is ultra convenient for almost anywhere a tourist would want to go, with the most popular tourist sights, the central market, and restaurants and bars along the riverside, all just blocks away.
