“Quirky colonial villa & great customer service”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Reception staff were very friendly, polite & welcoming. Our room turned out to be a large suite, with enormous double bedroom, dining room, bathroom and little kitchen. It felt like an old french colonial villa, with high ceilings and tiled floors, wooden shutters on the windows etc. The room was clean and nicely furnished and quiet at night. In the morning we hadn't got up early enough to allow time for breakfast before our bus collected us (our fault, not the hotel's), but the staff kindly offered to make us something anyway. they brought us coffee and put together 2 fruit salads in takeaway boxes, which was great. We had no problems during our stay and would stay there again.

We stayed for only one night but got an upgrade to a twin bed ensuite apartment. The hostel is a family run boutique hotel located in a relatively quiet alley. If you want to experience a more local taste of living then the neighborhood is an ideal place. It's a bit distant from the buzzing riverside however a 10min tuk tuk drive will get you to the heart of town. The hostel is a well refurbished & characteristically decorated colonial style mansion of great ambience. Facilities are well maintained and in good condition. Staff were all so very friendly and helpful and were willing to attend to your every need. Breakfast was another plus and food was serviced on arty plates. Although the room fee is a bit on the expensive side compared to other hostels it's definitely worth the money. Next time we pop over Phnom Penh we'll def return and stay a bit longer!

This is a really lovely and relaxing hotel on a quiet street that has the very nice Romdeng restaurant a block to the east and the riverside a short stroll to the west. The staff are incredibly warm and helpful and always full of smiles. The rooms are large and airy with spacious ensuites. Breakfasts were a real highlight of each morning with a great menu to choose from and a very relaxing and comfortable dining area at the front of the hotel. On top of our items we were given extra helpings of fruit too.

When my booking was confirmed, Ms Phala from the hotel sent me an incredibly informative email letting me know how to get to the hotel and also useful information such as how much it would cost to get to the hotel.

A great place to base yourself in if you ever find yourself in Phnom Penh.

it's a small family run hotel sit in the city center of Phnom Penh. staffs are so lovely and helpful, do not hesitate to ask them if you need help, and yes, they command good english.

with the the price i paid, i didn't expect such a nice room, and the most important thing - Very Clean! and very quite at night.

don't expect all tuk-tuk drivers knowsthis hotel, so do remember to bring along the hotel name card.

i will certainly come back this hotel if i visit PP again in the futute.

tip: do not take the tuk-tuk outside the hotel, he charges higher price. so walk outside a bit and a lot of tuk-tuk are waiting for you.

This is a delightful Inn to stay at, the entire staff are friendly and to owners are educating them for a better life. We had the top floor room, more like an apartment, separate bathroom, dining room and huge bedroom with all the amenities. Is an French colonial villa, just beautiful. They want to get even better and have surveys for each guest to fill out. Central to the riverfront and city.

First of all the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get. The rooms are spacious - some have balconies and even the small ones have nice high ceilings. I got the impression that I was in a big place, but the hottel only has 8 rooms, I believe. It feels huge, though. Second of all the building is simply beautiful. The rooms are quiet, clean, and the ammenities DO WORK as they should. The staff is very helpful, accomodating, and genuinely kind.

I found the location very convenient - two blocks from cafes, bars, shops. One block down the street is Romdeng Restaurant - which is FANTASTIC. You can walk to the Central Market in a few minutes. Actually, the Kambuja is located in an area that invites you to walk and see some beautiful places, despite the traffic at some points. Nice view from the breakfast area. Felt very safe.

I wish I had stayed there the whole time I was in Phnom Penh. During the first part of my trip I stayed at a boutique hotels - with a pool that I did not use - and paid much more than at The Kambuja Inn. The breakfast is nice: baguette, fruits, juice, eggs, or Khmer, which I hate to say, I did not try, but saw some French guests enjoying it. And you know, if a French likes it, "bad it ain't". The coffee was good but the cups were on the small side and I love coffee. I just kept asking for more to get my 'fix'. Unpretentious without sacrificing good taste.

As a middle aged couple it met my number one requirement - Silence at night.

Location is down a quiet residential street and set back in it's own yard, ten mins walk from river and main pub area.

Room was fine, again because of peace and quiet mainly but also decent bathroom and bed.

Breakfast was standard bread, eggs, tea and fruit plate.
