Description: Malis is a landmark restaurant that has long enjoyed a reputation for pushing the boundaries of fusion food with traditional, original and new age Cambodian cuisine. With capacious seating and four VIP rooms set in a courtyard around a fountain, it is undeniably the capital's premier gourmet dining experience. Its busy kitchen is home to Luu Meng, Cambodia's only masterchef, whose artfully prepared dishes have graced tables around the world.

We went on our first night in PP, and then after a week in Siem Reap, we came back again on our way home! We REALLY enjoyed the beautiful, atmospheric courtyard tables and lovely service. But the FOOD! Mouth-watering. I absolutely believe this chef deserves the accolades he has gained for his efforts in Khmer cuisine. The first night we had the best fish amoc we had in Cambodia, plus prahoc ktis on the waitress's recommendation, with some delicious meat skewers to start. We also had jasmine rice in lotus leaf with beef, and for dessert black sticky rice pudding. A bottle of agreeable viognier worked a treat with the flavours. Go go go!

Had high expectation after seeing the reviews on this restaurant. Guess I was a bit let down by the service which was not great. One had to really frantically signal the waiters in order to get anything. Perhaps it was also because the restaurant was rather full the night we went.
There were 6 of us and the children were not too impressed with what was on offer.
The exception was the baked fish! One must order that and the pork and banana flower salad!
The fish came steaming hot and when cut had a huge stalk of lemon grass stuffed in. The flesh was succulent and it is eaten with an array of condiments. Wonderful and not to be missed!

nice seats and deco around, but food portion was smaller which's expected. but service was not up to standard for this price really. we were seated quite early at night so only 2 or 3 tables (out of 5 or 6) filled in our indoor area, after we were seated and ordered our food, another table with all foreigners arrived. they ordered many wines and dishes which i guessed were more pricey, so the staff were more attentive to them. they also had a few shotglasses of yellow drinks which caught our interests as we would like to try too, so i asked one of the staff who was passing by quickly and didn't really get back to us, until after 15 mins or more, which was almost towards the end of our dinner. then he came back quickly to us and said that was the welcome drink, and another staff then placed 2 small side plates of some kinda mild chilli sauce and some preserved pickles (those kind which should be laid on the table first thing!!!) and shortly after, provided 2 shotglasses of the same welcome yellow drinks (which r pineapple juice) when we almost finished our dishes! it was appalling and i was utterly disappointed!

if we didn't care to ask what those shots were, we wouldn't even know they have such welcome drink thing! no wonder there r some other bad/terrible reviews on different menus/services.

food were nicely displayed and tasted good, but with the provision of service relating to how much pricey food&drinks each table has ordered, this restaurant isn't doing their F&B services well enough to welcome customers back.

We went to Malis to have dinner on our last night in Phnom Penh, and we were sad we didn't come here earlier. The food was the beste we've had in Phnom Penh, the staff and service were excellent and the restaurant itself was very nice. Our dinner here was so wonderful we didn't find it expensive at all!

I had lovely food here with free shot of mango juice and pickled veg. My meal was good it was expensive in comparison to other cambodian eat outs but is worth it for the service and the tranquillity of the restaurant.

Perfect for couples to dine out or maybe a good place to POP the question lol is soo lovely there! I liked the food not sure how authentic as I have not tried authentic home cooked Khmer food so cannot really judge but I can say my standards are normally pretty high for me not to have complaints about a restaurant :-)
