Description: Malis is a landmark restaurant that has long enjoyed a reputation for pushing the boundaries of fusion food with traditional, original and new age Cambodian cuisine. With capacious seating and four VIP rooms set in a courtyard around a fountain, it is undeniably the capital's premier gourmet dining experience. Its busy kitchen is home to Luu Meng, Cambodia's only masterchef, whose artfully prepared dishes have graced tables around the world.

Great ambience, absolutely delicious food @ very reasonable prices. We saw this in the guide book they give you at the airport, took a chance & it was fantastic!

We decided to check out this restaurant after seeing it featured on various food documentaries on TV. The food itself was excellent. We ordered a fish salad, stuffed grilled squid and amok trey (fish curry) all were delicious. The staff asked us if we wanted everything to come all at once but instead they came out separately, one after other other. The waitress who served us could also have made an effort to smile and show some warmth.
After we finished we waited outside for our tuk-tuk driver to pick us up. He was running late and the security outside the restaurant (not sure if they are part of the restaurant) kept hassling us to go with another tuk-tuk driver. In the end we had to wait inside the restuarant which they were accomodating about. Overall it seems like the go-to restaurant in Phnom Penh and worth checking out.

We had dinner at Malis based on recommendations by travelers guides (Routard, Petit Futé). We were really shocked by the underwhelming service (our reservation has been registered but the table was not prepared when we arrived, we were not told that some of the dishes we intended to order were not availbale this evening, it took 45 mn before we received our courses, the courses were not brought simultaneously so the first ones got cold while we were waiting for the rest to be served, etc.).
The food was tasteless compared to all the other places where we had lunch or dinner in Phnom Penh.
And it was the place where we had the highest bill !
Avoid it !

Lovely decor..excellent food!
Try the soft shell crab with the pepper sauce...yummy!
The pineapple mousse is light and delicious and all is beautifully presented.
Wait staff is attentive and more on par with western standards.

Had an overnight stay in Phnom Penh during a river cruise and decided to try this place. NOT a disappointment at all. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We tried the soft shell crabs that came in a basket that was absolutely fantastic. All the food was reasonably priced as was the wine. It seems that every Tuk Tuk driver knows the place so its not a problem with transportation.
