Description: Malis is a landmark restaurant that has long enjoyed a reputation for pushing the boundaries of fusion food with traditional, original and new age Cambodian cuisine. With capacious seating and four VIP rooms set in a courtyard around a fountain, it is undeniably the capital's premier gourmet dining experience. Its busy kitchen is home to Luu Meng, Cambodia's only masterchef, whose artfully prepared dishes have graced tables around the world.

“Very nice restaurant”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Had an overnight stay in Phnom Penh during a river cruise and decided to try this place. NOT a disappointment at all. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We tried the soft shell crabs that came in a basket that was absolutely fantastic. All the food was reasonably priced as was the wine. It seems that every Tuk Tuk driver knows the place so its not a problem with transportation.

“Avoid it!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

We dined there on St. Valentine's day. Nice setting but the table was clearly added at the last minute in a small corner, half the size of other tables, and poorly set. This was not a walk in dinner, we had booked ahead.
The restaurant served a set menu for St. Valentine's day. They overlooked to bring the appetizer and began with the starter. Better forget forget the menu... For example, the "duck carpaccio with bamboo shoots" was a a soup with some meat slivers that the waitress described as "beef". The minuscule sorbet was served with no spoon, we had to ask twice - maybe they were expecting us to eat it with chopsticks. There were four courses: the silverware was never changed.
In summary, pretentious, poor value, poorly trained staff. This may sound harsh, but if a restaurant has the pretense to be upscale and classy then they better deliver, train their staff, and pay attention to quality and details. What a disaster!
When we were about to leave - we refused coffee, got our check, and left disappointed - an Indian couple sat at the table next to ours. They had a look at the set menu and left. We just wish we had done the same.

“Great Cambodian Cuisine”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

One of the best Khmer Cuisine restaurants in Phnom Penh with an outstanding atmosphere. Also decorations and view were beautiful and dishes presented greatly and great quality food. If you want some quality and enjoyable meal and don't mind if the price is a bit high, this place is for you.

“Lovely outdoor setting”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

The restaurant has a lovely outdoor setting. We really enjoyed our dinner and the Khmer dishes, specially the clams and the fried soft shell crab.
The quality of the food and the presentation was great and the service very attentive.

“Fancy, pricy fusion of Cambodian and European”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Presentations were beautiful, but favors were odd in several dishes. The outdoor tables were more attractive in a shaded courtyard than the nice but standard indoor tables. Place was full on New Years Eve. It's clearly a destination place, but we did not enjoy our meal as much as we expected.
