Pacharan located in a what could be a nice old building near the riverfront in Phnom Penh was quite a let down for us. First the outside really needs to be cleaned up, second the staff needs some serious training, and third the prices need to be slahed if they ever want patrons to return. The food portions were very small and a long time coming for the price asked, the staff were more interested in talking among themselves and playing with thier mobile telephones than taking care of the customers. I will say the inside was attractive, but all the negatives make this a place we will not return until they are seriously addressed by the owners. Quite a let-down due to all the hype we had heard.

The restaurant is in great old building and nice inside but service and food disapointing. A lot of the tapas foods are pre-prepared and microwaved, service poor. Better places to eat further up riverside.

I have been going to pacharan several times before, and over the years i got a bit disapointed. I came back a few days ago having some friends from Italy, and i heard (and definetly saw) that dishes were changing, carefully presented and tasting good. The menu has been diversified, with exquisite new mains, and i think the fish i ordered was actually fresh, which if you want my opinion is really hard to get in Cambodia. Thumbs up and recommend it to anybody who fancies a good diner out.

Pacharan, nice inside, but a dump outside. Nobody likes to walk past a pile of junk to go into a restaurant, at least nobody i know does. Clean it up and then you might have more than two people in your place during your lunch time. You know what they say about first impressions, well I believe that and you should too. You have a beautiful building, but the outside looks like a dump, but the inside looks like you threw all kinds of money at it to make it look nice. Again i will repeat myself and say that I will never understand the owners of these places (FCC owns this place) not understandinhg that the little things are what make the difference between a place being average and great. This includes your over all hygiene of the place, the food and its presentation, the prices, the service and everything in between. Food was slow to be ordered, delivered and cold when served, service was a challange and below avaerage and the whole experience was not pleasant. being part of the FCC no one should not be surprised. over hyped, over priced, under serviced and another place most people will only go once.

Took a walk the other afternoon with my group and we ended up in a cleaner (if there is a cleaner part of the riverfront) and found a nice old building/restaurant called Pacharan. We went inside and the place looked great, but there were no customers in there. We all kind of looked at each other and said what the heck, let’s give it a try. We found out through our tourist magazines that it was supposed to be a Spanish type place, okay if they say so. We went for some Tapas and some Sangria and after a little pointing and nodding of heads with our service staff we finally got our orders in. no kidding it took over 20 minutes just to get our jug and glasses of sangria and the rest of our orders took at least another 20 minutes. Now we could understand this if it was busy, but with only us in there, we just could not understand the problem. The service staff seemed happy enough either talking with each other, staring out the windows or basically just mulling around. We did not seem to their major concern, which we just did not understand so we asked to speak to the manager and we were told - ''he no here''. And that was that - ''he no here''... well, we paid our bill and 'we no there anymore either'... Food was cold when served, Sangria seemed watered down no doubt due to the wait we had to endure to get it and the service was some of the worst we have had to deal with during our travels. Now are group has a lot of 100% Hawaiians, and a few mixed couples and we are a pretty mellow bunch of people who love to travel, try new things and of course eat, and we are honest when we take the time to review the places we try during our travels, but so far in this town we have yet to find a place who actually has a clue what the friendly Aloha Spirit is about. Pacharan sure didn't and our bet is that it why it was empty. We surely will never return there. Not worth a fraction of what we spent there. Come on Trip Advisor - where are a couple places we can try that are welcoming and friendly in this town? You surely cannot go by the Tourist Magazines - it is easy enough to see he who pays the most gets the best write ups. I thought journalist were supposed to be impartial? Not in this town.
