“Excellent food, great service!”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

The background of the place got us interested, and we didn't really expect anything fancy for we knew it was a training restaurant. The moment we walked in, the staff was there to welcome us warmly. It was nice and cool indoors, which was a pleasant surprise as it had been an extremely hot day. The place was clean and looked really cosy. There was also a nice terrace with fans.

We ordered four different tapas plates and chocolate cake for dessert, and everything was fresh and delicious. Nothing too fancy, but simply tasty. We especially loved the quesadillas! The service was quick and cheerful, and we felt like the students really enjoyed their work. We're staying in Cambodia for three weeks, and are definately planning to dine here again when we return to PP before our flight back home. Great value for your money, great place, highly recommend!

“It's okay. Food overrated, though a great cause.”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

Fruit shake was great. Can't remember what I ordered, but only that I wasn't really blown away. However, just for the posters against visiting orphanages alone, I'm happy to see this place help inform ignorant tourists about how harmful their well-intentioned actions can be.

“Very mixed feelings”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

What I did not realize before we went there was, its a Tapas place. Not spanish Tapas mind you, but kind of novel cambodian fusion cuisine. I felt adventures this night and ordered - among other things - the beef with fire ants. Can not say I really cared for its taste, if that was because of the insects in it or the dish in general. It did not sit quiet right with me, which I suppose was more a psychological then a physical problem. Everything else was very good. The other dishes, the service and prices. The place seems to be popular with big groups.

“Great restaurant for a great cause”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

We had lunch at Friends restaurant just the other day and were very impressed by the level of service and the quality of the food.

The menu offers "tapas" -- there were two of us so we ordered 3 tapas. The smokey eggplant dip was delicious, as were the chicken with mango and cashew nuts and the Marum coconut, beetroot and bamboo salad.

Best of all, when you're eating at Friends, you're supporting Friends International, an organization that helps to train children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds so that they develop skills that they can use to seek employment in the future. In fact, all the servers at Friends were the students in training, and it was great to see them learning and developing skills.

We left with happy stomachs and were very happy to support a restaurant and an organization such as this. So happy, in fact, that we'll be going back for dinner tonight.

Highly recommend Friends and its sister restaurants (Romdeng in Phnom Penh, Sandan in Sihanoukville, Marum in Siem Reap) to anyone visiting Cambodia.
