Friend's Restaurant trains street children to work in the restaurant business, so some people may find the service a little slow, or they may be unnerved by the four people who serve and oversee the servers gathered around your table, but their presence serves a purpose. The young waitstaff are being trained and observed as they serve you. Really interesting menu, with some great drinks as well. It can get pretty busy, so reservations are a good idea. They also have a shop a couple doors down that sells interesting stuff made out of recycled materials.

Very close to the National Gallery.

I went there with colleague and assuming it is the best place as comment by Tripadvisor but it was not. My friend like the food but I did not as it was too sweet. We had to wait for a long time to get our food and service was late. I ask for butter to go with my bread for starter but he deliver at the end of our meal.

Even worse, we were placed under rain and I had to cancel my meeting because I got wet. I know it is not their fault about rain and flood, but it was a nightmare. During and after rain that area is the terrible.
I would not recommend this place to anyone of my friends.

If you're planning on eating at Friends, it might be a good idea to book ahead because of it's popularity. We arrived early for dinner one night and luckily were able to get a table. It's great to see the staff, the students, learning hospitality skills while working at the same time. The menu has a great selection, it was really hard to only pick a few dishes! My notable favourite was vegetarian fried spring rolls - seriously the best I have ever eaten. Prices are great - while they may be a touch more than other average restaurants, you're dining for a great cause! Drop into Friends 'n' Stuff on your way out and see great handmade items for sale.

There are many social cause restaurants and shops in Cambodia, and after going to Friends (the most well known), you will want to try all the others. The tapas dishes at Friends are simply delicious, with a mix of Khmer and Western dishes to sample. Also don't be fooled by the one called Coleslaw - it is much much better than it sounds! The deserts are also divine, particularly the chocolate cheesecake and the lime meringue pie.

The great food is coupled with attentive and friendly service, and set in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere (particularly the outside seating). The food is more expensive than your average restaurant in Phnom Penh, but its still very reasonable compared with Western standards, and its definitely worth it for the quality of food and service. Plus, when you eat at Friends, you're contributing to a great cause, since they train street children to work in the restaurant. I've been here 3 times already, and definitely want to go back before I leave Cambodia. Don't miss it!

There is also a shop next door which is part of the same NGO, and has great, reasonably priced products, which make great gifts for friends or for yourself, and which also contribute to the cause.
