“Great chic hotel - well worth staying”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2010

My partner and I had a wonderful time at the Blue Lime.
We stayed on the ground floor and loved our large room and lovely bathroom. The location was great and the pool was bliss!
The air con was strong and well needed from the hot weather, and the bed super comfortable.
The staff were good although apart from the main guy on reception, the others didn't speak English very well and often when we asked them questions they just replied what we said back to us and smiled, obviously with no idea what we said! The one time we ordered food there they brought us a different dish that the one we actually ordered :), but in saying that they were always smiling and friendly. The food was ok. I would recommend going down to the lake for better selection and quality though. Breakfast was nice but on the small side.
Lovely place to stay that I would highly recommend.

We arrived at Blue Lime after a long flight and very long stop over and were delighted when we walked through the doors to this peacful, calm and tranquil boutique hotel.
Whilst we only stayed for one night, the hotel was fantastic. Room was great and what you expect; as we were on the ground floor, there were double doors to prevent any noise from the lobby, impressive. Free internet which was great and free breakfast with delcious walnut bread. Would definitely stay again. Nice, simple and worth what you pay!

Hello,

We had spent 3 nights at this great hotel on our journey across the south east asia. In an comparison to the other similiar hotels we had visited during our stay in asia, I can say, this one was the best! Not only because of the good price, but because its services, benefits and facilities:

1. Staff is very well english speaking
2. They have great pool with nice garden surroundings
3. Staff is very helpful, even when we were leaving the hotel they did not hesitate to carry our bags to the taxi, even when we told them that we manage it by ourselves (I guess that our bags were heavier that average Khmer´s weight ;-)
4. Hotel is great located, few minutes walk to the Tonle Sap river, Central market or The Royal palace
5. Rooms are colonial and therefore huge!!! They are also very clean and cleaned every day.

We had olny one bad experience - once, we were totally ingored whils having our breakfast (included in the price and usually consisting of bread, fruits, omelette etc...). Waitress just brought us some coffee and tea and completely ignored us for 45 minutes whilst serving other guests round us... so we left our breakfast hungry...

One advice at the end: do not be scared of the entrance-street. It looks quite scary (like there is not such hotel there). But walk approx. 20 meters and on the left side you will find the entrance to thi hiden gem!!!

The Blue lime was a little piece of heaven hidden away in a big city. I have to say that as soon as we walked in we felt a warm & professional welcome. The hotel is modern and after a huge day at the depressing Killings Fields and Genocide Museum we were happy to return to Blue Lime and specifically the pool area.

The grounds are really nice and our room was super clean. The breakfast was good and anyone who complains about it ..obviously hasn't travelled much!

We only stayed at the Blue Lime for one night but would have loved to stay an extra night or two. The location is great and you can easily walk to the major sites and if you don't want to, the tuk-tuks are waiting right there. Just be sure to negotiate your rate before you head out (we paid $12 for the roundtrip to the Killing Fields).

The room is really well designed. While unique that the furniture is made of cement (makes sense given all the statues that are designed on that street), it isn't cold or unwelcoming at all. The room wasn't huge, but we had plenty of room. The bed was comfortable, we had an extra "couch/bed" that we used to unpack, there was a room safe, of course air conditioning (can't imagine not having that), and a bathroom. We even had a porch that overlooked the neighboring families. The lighting was great with plenty of light next to the bed for bedtime reading. The only slight downside is the water pressure is a bit weak and for some people, the hike up to the top floor can be difficult (we didn't mind though), and the customer service wasn't that great (the people of Cambodia are so warm but we didn't get that feeling from the man at reception).

They had several free computers to use in the hip lobby and the pool was beautiful (the best we've seen in our four hotels) with wonderful couch/bungalow areas to lounge. The complimentary breakfast was also quite impressive. I got passion fruit juice and you could tell it was fresh with the little passion fruit seeds floating in my glass.

Quick tip though - the Blue Lime is tucked away on a side street so we arranged for a car pick up at the airport for $12 USD which was perfect and easy.

Enjoy Phnom Penh, eat some street food at night, and have a great trip!

Just returned from 3 weeks in Cambodia. Squeezed in 1 night at Blue Lime (tried to book more but they get very booked up in advance) and wished we had stayed longer. From the street it's a narrow alleyway but you walk into an oasis of blue water and palm trees. With free internet in the lobby, some really good fruit shakes and lovely service we would highly recommend it and go back again. The rooms are decorated very minimalistic but with splashes of vibrant colours from the gorgeous cambodian silks. Only negative thing was the beds were very firm but even in the poshest or cheapest places we stayed this seems to be standard for Cambodia! We will definitely come back.

When researching for our months' holiday someone else described this hotel as an oasis and honestly it is the best description. Well placed in the centre of town, don't be put off by the description of concrete furniture; it works! Looks and feels a bit like marble and is perfect for the climate. The pool area is beautifully green and shady and the cabanas have notices on them reserving them for hotel guests rather than 'outsiders' who take pot luck with the rest of the chairs.
We had room 11 on the 3rd floor which was a lots of steps but once there was worth it as it overlooked the pool with a small balcony. The setup is a bit quirky as you have to go onto the very small balcony (though it does have seats and a table) to get to the bathroom, but this not as bad as it sounds. The room was immaculate, bed comfy and the only thing that could be improved upon is lack of any drawers to put clothes.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is served by the pool and although not too much choice it consisted of bread, which was beautiful, fruit, and eggs to order so it was just fine.
Whilst in Phnom Penh do have a drink at the Foreign Correspondents Club, known by everyone as FCC. Very atmospheric, famous photos by the journos who were there in the bad times, but for all that a wonderful place to take advantage of their generous happy hour and enjoy sitting on the balcony overlooking the river.
