In the tourist heat of PP next to the riverfront, this large pagoda complex can be busy with festivals, and peacefully quiet at the same time. It's a pleasure wander around, chat to the monks and local kids and see the charity school.

Peaceful tranquil. Starkly contrasted to cambodian night life.
Visit early morning. Sit kneeled infront of Buddha and hear the monks chanting in the tranquil coolness of the morning. Yes...peace is present right within the premises. :)

Liked this Wat well enough. Visited it twice. There's a building that allegedly houses an eyebrow hair of the Buddha which is pretty cool. Met a very friendly monk and an elderly caretaker on my first visit there.

It's mid-Riverside location makes it a convenient sight to see but there are other, more dazzling, wats around PP. I went on a bike tour on Silk Island and the area on the other side of the Mekong where I saw my most favorite wats so far in my SE Asia travels.

Remember to cover your shoulders and knees when visiting this, or any, wat.

Wat Ounalom is the most important wat of Phnom Penh and the center of Cambodian Buddhism- located near the Royal Palace of Cambodia.

Take off your shoes upon entering the Wat and be greeted by one or two monks. They will welcome you with full of smiles and eager to find out where you come from.

The building is very old, but well maintained. Love it.

This is a delightful and peaceful place to include on a morning walk. It really transports one from the busy city around it.
