“Great hotel”
Reviewed May 18, 2008

Orchid Garden Hotel would have to rank as one of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world. The staff are very friendly professional, courteous, helpful and go out of their way to meet your every need. The meals there are of a first class standard, the rooms are immaculate and everything about it is just wonderful. Again, I can't recommend this hotel enough

Orchid Garden Hotel BSB

Pros

Close to the airport for overnight stays (5 minutes drive)
Breakfast included
Royal Brunei Airlines included the accommodation with the price of the ticket
Hotel - Airport shuttle
Much better than the Brunei Hotel.

Cons

Tired
Expensive taxi ride if shuttle not available as taxi drivers in Brunei do not use meters and charge whatever they want.
Nowhere to walk
Not as good as the Centrepoint Hotel. No comparison with the Empire Hotel.

Stayed here with my girlfriend enroute to Oz, for 1 night in Nov 03.

This is a massive hotel, with large communial rooms. Our bedroom was everything a jetlagged person would want, massive bed, cable TV, and comfortable surroundings. The evening buffet we found to be very good, great food and plenty of it, but the atmosphire was zero. We got the impression that this hotel is mostly used by business persons, or for thoes stopping over like ourselves.

Overall the Orchid Gdn was perfect for what we wanted (to crash) but I dont think that I would have wanted to of stayed for any longer.

The city inself, we found to be very small and non-eventfull, a bit of a nothing desternation, so really a stopover is all that is required here.

  • Liked — Huge bed
  • Disliked — Zero atmosphire

We have just returned from a trip to borneo and had a 3 day stopover in Brunei, firstly the Orchid is a slightly run down airport hotel, clean but weary, not easy to get anywhere without arranging transport, three days was too long in brunei max 2 days and even then you would be pushed to find things to do.

We would recomend a city centre hotel as preference they have some fab ones.
