“Interesting to look around”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The museum is a collection of the sultans belongings which he isn't using. Mostly gifts from other nations and the carriages from his coronation and silver jubilee, it isn't anything amazing but its nice to look around, mist of the gifts are from other parts south east Asia so you you get an insite into those cultures to.

“Do not miss this”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

First of all try and get a good look at the Dome of this building.
You leave your shoes outside and are given slippers.
So much history and the ground floor is just something to see.
You are given a locker to use for your personal bags
There is a shop to buy post cards and small items.

“Take it for what it is.”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This isn't a museum per se. It is more of a glory box. It is mostly made up of a collection of gifts received by the current Sultan. There is no information to go along with the gifts, except for who gave them. Nevertheless it is an enjoyable way to pass an hour or two. There is an excellent diorama of the coronation hidden away behind the display of the ceremonial chariot/ sedan chair thingy and a few other little gems, but don't come here expecting to be enlightened.

“Impressive.”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

From the name, we expected lots of native costumes but were impressed by a large, modern museum giving history, customs, etc as well as the full local version of the British Royal Coach. Be warned - wear clean socks as the whole museum is a no shoes area.

“Worth a look”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

I am not very big on museums however when it is free I know I can not go too far wrong. You do need to remove your shoes before entering the building, there maybe slippers you can wear when inside. When you enter the doors go up the stairs on the right and see the information counter as you need to leave all bags, phones and cameras in locker which they provide for free.
No photos can be taken once inside the museum, however in the main foyer area you are permitted to walker around and take photos.
The museum houses a very large collections of gifts and royal regalia used during the sultans coronation and it gives an insight into the history of Brunei. Thankfully there are some descriptions in English so you can understand what the pieces are about. When we were there the a/c was working very well so it you have a light jacket I suggest you bring it.
