We recently stayed at the Brunei Hotel for two nights before travelling to Kota Kinabalu. The rooms were very modern, the service and price were good and the location was ideal, just a short walk to markets, shopping centre and water village. We would recommend staying here if in Brunei.

This is our last stay for our Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, and Brunei trip.

We stayed one night at The Brunei Hotel
- Decoration and furniture are very nice.
- Room size is not so big or too small.
- Astro is available, but no National Geography.
- Service is the best one I faced in this 8-day trip. All staffs are VERY FRIENDLY. I REALLY MEAN IT. They smile, they do good service. They really want to help.

One bad comment is about the Internet. The hotel at this price should provide the Internet in-room. I see many comments about the Internet problem.

For us, we can't even connect to a single Web site. No Wi-fi signal on third floor. We connected with LAN cable, but the gateway didn't work. I planed to finish some work during the night, and I missed the plan.

The staff said technician would try to fix it during 9pm, but I wait till 6am in the morning and still couldn't even connect to any Web site.

Improve connection, make it stable, do your best for this required service, and the Brunei Hotel will be one of the best hotel I experienced

Room tip: Choose the room that allow you to see the river, great view

We live at the other end of Brunei and often want to stay over in the capital either at the weekend or when we have family visiting. The Radisson can be expensive and the overly ostentatious (and badly catered) Empire don't really do it so the revamped Brunei hotel is a fantastic addition. Rooms are comfortable with good bed linen and the bathrooms were clean with nice toiletries. TV channel selection was pretty standard but the addition of a DVD player was a plus considering the availability of cheap DVD shops in the locality. The breakfast was more than adequate with your eggs cooked to order.

Best thing about the place is the location, right by the waterfront. Nearby is the mosque and the Yayasan shopping centre (best sports shop in the country on the third floor) and easy availability of trips to the mangroves or the water village. Within five minutes walk are Frattinis Italian restaurant, Kaizen Sushi, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and the amazing Rice and Grill (the best Indian/Pakistani food in town).

Service was very friendly with a late check out easily accomodated. Parking couldn't be better right outside.

Its not got great views or five star facilities but then you aren't being asked to pay for them. A fun and funky new option to Bandar though.

After a year from my last stay, Brunei Hotel had undergo a big transformation from poor to excellent. To my surprise, the rooms are fantastic which to me is suffice for a short stay. Good location to stay in, nearby the famous Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Yayasan Shopping complex, Water Village, Handicraft center, The new Waterfront, and many more. It is really strategic location and i highly recommend this to our visitors.

Brunei Hotel is a very nice hotel after the new owners modernized it. It is very central, walking distance to all the attractions. The decor is modern, the staff are friendly, wifi in the room and in the reception area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to all travelers. Price is also very reasonable.
