“excellent business hotel in Brunei”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

The WiFi works well, the breakfast buffet spread is generous and international multi cuisine. The rooms are clean, functional and quiet. The room lightings are also generous and the room is really well lit even at moderate setting. The rain shower in the bathroom is most welcomed to remind you that there is rain in this tropical place. No mosquitoes in the room except for the business centre, better wear long pants and long sleeved shirts when doing yr work in the business centre. All in all, a really good place to stay in. Pity not many more visitors to Brunei have chosen to stay in this hotel especially when I heard of problems in other hotels in BSB.

We emailed the hotel prior to our stay to arrange a pick-up from the airport, which was promptly and courteously arranged. Avis actually provides this service on behalf of the Radisson, but payment (BND29) is made to the hotel on check-out.

Check-in was extremely quick, so we could start our holiday sooner! We had a renovated room (#309) opposite the lifts, with a street view. It was clean and quiet. The free wi-fi worked without any problems. The bed was comfortable. Aircon worked very well and could be adjusted to your preferences. Two free bottles of water were supplied every day, which was appreciated. There was also a minibar with fairly reasonably priced snacks and soft drinks only, of course, and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel also provides complimentary "proper" coffee/tea and light breakfast items eg cupcakes in the lobby if you're an early riser (only available from 05:30 to 06:30). There are iced fruit and tea drinks available in the lobby in the afternoon/evening. The hotel kindly allowed us a late check-out at 17:00, as our flight was at 20:00.

We had plenty of activities arranged during our 4 days in Brunei, so didn't get the chance to explore the hotel's facilities or restaurants. The location is very handy if you want to be in town. If you would rather have lots of restaurants and shops close by perhaps you may want to consider a hotel in Gadong instead. It suited our needs though, and we would be happy to stay at the Radisson again.

The hotel accommodation is modern and clean with plenty of space to stow all the belongings for an extended stay. I have only spend one night here during a business trip. All sights are conveniently accessed from here either by foot or a short ride in a taxi. The mosque is a must and a walk down the riverside with the market would be very interesting. Unfortunately we arrived to late to enjoy this but nevertheless enjoyed the walk. I think the hotel will make a great base to explore from.
Breakfast was plentiful and a good choice. The only downside was our evening meal. Our stay was during Ramadan and the meal started prompt with the Restaurant being very busy. We managed to secure a table at 8 pm in something I can only call the "overflow restaurant". The staff was accommodating when available on the tables, however on the buffet they appeared not unduly concerned that there was no longer any food left at 8 pm. Most just shrugged when we pointed out that there was no longer a selection of dishes available. Well, I am saying a selection, all that was left was yellow mackerel, noodle soup and the remains of a lamb dish. Even normal rice was no longer to be had. Now usually one would expect a buffet to be replenished in an establishment this size and reputation but during Ramadan this appears not to be the case. We did mention this to a waitress and received a discount of the final bill. However it did not alter the fact that we went to bed hungry. Consequently it was not as enjoyable as I would have liked.

The room is spacious, and the bed and pillows are very comfortable.

The location is fantastic. It is almost right across the Royal Regalia Museum, and a few minutes walk to the open market, waterfront, mosque, Yayasan mall and Tasek Recreational Park.

But it is the service which is noteworthy. The staff are always with a ready smile. They are also proactive. One offered me an umbrella when I was about to go out while it was raining. Another reminded me of the Brunei departure tax for which I had to reserve some cash for. Since my flight was past midnight, I was given late check-out until 6pm, then free access to the business lounge (with complimentary cocktails and canapés).

I definitely recommend this hotel to visitors.

Smart looking hotel, very spacious and well presented foyer area. Processed promptly at front desk and seen off to our room. Room is typical of what you'd expect in a good hotel, clean, modern well laid out and good living space. Water pressure good, bathroom well kept!
Had dinner n breakfast in hotel, food was very good, once again being a Muslim country no pork sausages or bacon (chicken or beef bacon aint bacon) also no beer or wine avail (non alcoholic beer is not beer) at hotel bar as is with all hotels in Brunei!
The swimming pool out outdoor area was awesome, good length & width for morning laps. Pool uses a R.O system so no chlorine stinging the eyes. Outdoor area around pool good to have breakfast & chillax.
Place was up to par and staff very attentive. This may be a cultural thing but I would like the staff to be a bit more engaging, as a foreigners and non muslim I don't bite and we are respectful of your culture and religion, I would like to be treated more like a family member so laugh n smile at me and I will laugh n smile back maybe I'll make a joke or two too!
Lovely hotel. Maybe at a later stage could upgrade install bigger lifts, too small n cramped!

I have only ever known the Radisson hotels as a business traveller - so I was surprised by how well the Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam suited us for our holiday in Brunei: my husband and I are travelling with our 19 month old daughter.

On arrival, we were upgraded to a bigger room at no extra charge that allowed us more space to set up our daughter's travel cot. The room is well furnished, clean, comfortable and spacious - it has been a great 'base' for us to return to throughout the day when our toddler has needed a sleep.

The location is ideally suited for nearby walks to the city and to recreation parks and playgrounds (e.g. Jubli and Tasek Lama) - we walked almost everywhere, it's been fantastic to have the city and the jungle so close!

The pool area is a great space - it's designed for business travellers but it does accommodate kids and it's been lovely to have a 'shaded' swim in the heat of the day. We have eaten at the restaurant and had room-service - we wouldn't normally do either with a toddler but staff have been very accommodating and both options are very good value for families (e.g. $4AUD soup, $10AUD hot dishes) and delicious. We have also eaten at the market across the road - great value and good food there, too.

The staff have been lovely, and that's what has made the Radisson Hotel a place that we would return to and recommend to others: staff made an effort to know us, have been responsive to our needs, and anticipated our questions. Thank you to the team there - you have been wonderful.
