Spacious, clean, comfortable, neatly furnished rooms and bathroom. Friendly, helpful staff. Masseuse and hair/nail salon next door. They allowed me to check in early (my flight arrived at 9.30am and departed at 10pm). Transfers available ($20 each way, which is reasonable for Brunei). Great option for a stop over. Highly recommended.

Let me see...what is wrong with this hotel? Absolutely NOTHING! The first time you arrive at this hotel, you are greeted by people who can only smile...they do not know what a frown is! The service is absolutely excellent! Perfect English! No lapses in communication! I knew what to expect every time. Very competent as well. In fact, the first night, when I tried to venture out and get a bite to eat, one of the staff members noticed I was a bit lost and immediately offered to drive me to where the eateries were! Can you believe that? He said it was raining and since he had just finished taking someone to the airport, why not just show me around? And then, he went on to explain all the different cuisines in the area as well as all the price ranges. Absolutely AMAZING hospitality! The room was also very comfortable. Very clean. All the seats were nicely upholstered, the shower was heavenly, and the Internet, while slow, was not as bad as in some other places. On a three week long trip, I probably didn't sleep on a better bed than that one. And the gym? Way better than the gyms we have here! There was a swimming pool, treadmills, ellipticals, running tracks, you name it, they had it. Perhaps the only hotel I have ever been to to sport such a comprehensive gym. So, in a nutshell, very worth it! A bit pricey for those used to traveling on a shoestring, but not expensive at all by Brunei standards. The next time you are in Brunei, definitely check this one out!

We stayed here based on reviews and price of the hotel. We had a family of six, and the staff could not have been more welcoming! The rooms were ideal for us in our in and out ventures. Some of the staff were just fantastic, from the enthusiastic welcome to attending to our every request. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good affordable option for their family to stay.

The Palm Garden Hotel is fairly new and in a OK location, on the edge of a retail area and within walking distance to Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and the bus stops to get into Bandar. The hotel receptionist we asked for directions had no idea where the hotel was on the map, and neither did a guy we asked in the street - ask a few people directions if walking/catching the bus to avoid wandering around in the heat!

The room was big it had lovely large windows, and full in room facilities including a newspaper (in English) a fridge and free wifi. The room and bathroom where very clean. The hotel is linked to the Palm Garden restaurant next door and the fitness centre above. The restaurant only seemed to be used by patrons of the hotel and fitness centre, it lacked in atmosphere. The breakfast was included and there were 2 set menu choices changed daily. One day there was a fish ball porridge and the next day mashed potato was served with an egg sandwich & boiled chicken sausage, not really authentic! They have a buffet breakfast on weekends.

There was a shopping centre around the corner with a supermarket, cinema and some eateries. Down the road on the way into the city centre there was a cool bakery/cake shop!

The hotel also have a pick-up service from around Bandar - at a cost. This is helpful as the buses & taxi's seem to stop running everyday at 6pm. We had to phone them when the only transport option we had was a guy in the street pretending he was a taxi driver wanting to drive us... They also do airport pick-ups/drop offs.

I stayed at Palm Garden Hotel for 4 nights. The staff was very friendly and I received a warm welcome. I was staying in a twin bed room which was of normal size. You have access to the internet in the lobby via WIFI. You just have to ask the receptionist on the password. But if you like you can also surf in the internet in your hotel room. All you need is a network cable. At the reception you can receive a small map which covers Bandar. The hotel offers you a 'shuttle service' for 5 Brunei Dollar into town. But you can also use the bus lines of Bandar. I walked all the way to Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the newly built waterfront. It will take you approx. 30 to 45 minutes into town.
Within a five to ten minutes walk from the hotel you can easily reach the commercial precinct of Kiulap. Do not be shy to enter the shops, because you will receive a friendly welcome. Next to the hotel is also a hypermarket called Giant.
Closely to the hotel is a gym 'Fitness Zone' which is free of charge for hotel guests. Just pick a towel and have a nice workout at the Fitness Zone! The gym is opened till 11 p.m.
You can have you breakfast till 10 a.m. at the Palm Garden Restaurant.
As for me I would book this hotel again.

I just returned from Asia and stopped in Brunei, I chose the hotel for the reviews and I definitely agree: nice and clean hotel, full breakfast was included and I also tried the flawless room service. It's a bit far from downtown ( 10 min ride) but calling a taxi or using the hotel's shuttle service, is a good option but pricey for international standards:U$10 per ride; transportation in Brunei is expensive.
I recommend it!
