Room: Comfortable furniture. The air conditioner worked well, perhaps too well. The bed was a little hard for me. The desk was highly functional. The fact that it could swing to move away from the wall escaped me for a couple of days. Once I saw that feature, I was delighted.
Bathroom: Reasonably good lighting. I want to have the equivalent of the sun shining on my face, so that may not be to your liking. Water pressure and temperature was great. Shelving and power access were quite functional and logical--a rare thing in my experience.
Housekeeping: Stellar. Every day I returned to a spotless room with all the amenities restocked.
Restaurant: Quite good and with a wide variety of local dishes. Lakeshore seemed to be delighted with serving a wide variety of Bangla dishes--all helpfully labeled. For those still hesitant to try the local foods, there were always Western alternatives available at every meal.
The Staff: I cannot praise them enough. They quickly began to anticipate my requests--bringing me black coffee first thing at breakfast (a physiological Prime Directive), putting me at a comfortable table, and adding small, special dishes for me to try. Everyone expressed delight at greeting me. More than good training, clearly the management hired people who are highly empathetic. Every time I came or went, the uniformed security staff at the gate, across their front courtyard, and at the front door offered a crisp salute. I felt like the president.
