I joined the Raas festival tour with Nijhoom Tours. What a superb choice it was.
I like to travel to countries that are not so well known.
Bangladesh deserves to have more white tourists and it's sad that this fantastic colorful country is not on the radar of the international travel community.
For some people the chaos and mayhem in Dhaka might be too overwhelming but I like to dive in places that are completely different from my culture and to learn how people live and manage their everyday lives. From the city jungle of Dhaka to the forest jungle of the Sundarbans mangroves is a fantastic contrast. So peaceful and mystic, far away from any civilization. We haven't seen a tiger but many footprints which prove that there are definitely tigers roaming around.
The boat crew in the Sundarbans were fantastic. What the chef was able to cook in the small kitchen was unbelievable. I also went to the Chittagong Hill Tracts to visit 5 tribal villages to learn more about how they live. The tribal market in Bandarban is a rush to the senses. I also have to mention our drivers. They were all fantastic. I can’t believe how good they are. It requires a lot of driving skills to drive in such a mayhem !! And finally our lead guide Opu who did not only a great job, but is a very likeable guy.
I was a diverse and colorful, well organized trip and I enjoyed every single day of it.
If you like photography , Bangladesh is the place to be !! There are so many photo opportunities and many people are happy to be photographed.
Our first trip to Bangladesh and hopefully not our last. We booked onto the Raas Festival Tour -which was a small group tour of 16 days. It included Dhaka, the Ganges delta, the Sundarbans before heading up to Sreemangal for the festival itself and a tour of the tea plantations etc. We then returned for a last few days in and around Dhaka.
It was an absolutely brilliant tour - not just the content and the places we visited and experiences we had, but also the organisation which was spot on.
Particular highlights were the pre-festival practices we were fortunate to see in peoples homes, the hospitality of the people we met, the crew on our boat in the Sundarbans and what we saw there, however I have to say our guide Opu made the whole thing. Opu was absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, he was very accommodating and knowledgeable and an all in nice guy.
I would thoroughly recommend Nijhoom Tours.
We have travelled to well over a hundred countries and this company in Bangladesh are amazing.
From the moment we first made contact to all on going communication Hasan was professional, diligent and a pleasure to deal with.
Our tour with them to the Sundarbans was an absolutely mind blowing experience. The boat the company use to venture deep into the Mangroves is basic but clean, tidy and the food is amazing. The safaris deep into the forest are interesting with lots of animals to see. Our final tour of a village struggling with rising sea levels was an interesting yet heart breaking experience. Our guide Faisal was amazing and his knowledge and passion for the birds was so good.
We cannot rate this company high enough for both quality of service and value for money.
The trip to Bangladesh that Nijhoom Tours arranged for us was amazing. We went on the two week Raas Festival tour. Of course the festival itself was an absolute highlight. We went to both a rehearsal day and the actual day of this important Hindu festival. The dancing and costumes were stunning and the way we were made to feel welcome was terrific. Our wonderful guide Opu had arranged for front row seats at the festival and at the rehearsal we were the only people there so it was very intimate and special.
The tour also included fascinating days in Dhaka (a manic, energising city), to the old capital with its street of old merchant houses, Unesco sites with very different mosques and cultural museums. We also spent time observing life in the Ganges Delta, visiting tribal villages and walking through the beautiful tea plantations of North East Bangladesh. We were always made to feel so welcome by local people, Bangladesh is definitely one of the friendliest countries in the world.
Another highlight was our three day trip to the Sundarbans where we saw wonderful birds and animals and came very close to seeing a Tiger. Just drifting down the small channels in the peace and silence of the area was magical.
The whole tour was very well arranged and our guide Opu was great. I thoroughly recommend Nijhoom Tours.
We had a perfect trip to the northwest of the country. Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Rangpur... We were really happy with our guide Opu who did a great job. There are so many things to see and the tour was adapted to our preferences. Really nice hotels, good food (spicy tho...) and many beautiful oportunities to take picture.
This was an excellent tour. I initially joined as a solo traveler and another solo traveler joined the tour which was fun and the company then gave me a reduced price. The whole tour from start to finish was well organised, safe and tailored to our requests and needs. Our guide Opu was interesting, fun, well-informed and considerate.
