We completed a 4 day (3 night) tour in Sundarbans in early January and it was really excellent. Everything from the early communication with Hasan (the owner), payment and organization was great and without any problems. Our guide Opu was amazing, very helpful, knowledgeable and overall a fun guy to be around. He was with us throughout the whole trip and we really enjoyed his company. The boat had a great crew who took care of everything so that we can really enjoy our trip. Food was excellent and special thanks to the cook who prepared vegan meals for us throughout this trip (we communicated the fact that we are vegan to Hasan before we took this trip and it was arranged without any problems). We had our full privacy on the boat as guest quarters and our bathroom were fully separated from the rest of the crew.
On this trip we spend one night in hotel in Khulna and two nights on the boat in Sundarbans. We first visited some sight around Bagerhat and then proceeded on our trip on the boat through Sundarbans all the way down to the Bay of Bengal.
It is really once in a lifetime experience and I cannot recommend it enough.
An excellent 28 day trip to Bangladesh. We saw so much and an excellent guide who went out of his way to make sure we had very good photographs! The visits to the Hill Tribes were exceptionally good and we certainly felt safe and welcome. It was worth taking the extra time to get to know the variety of the country.
I traveled to Bangladesh in 2022 to join the ‘Raas Festival’ tour organised by Nijhoom Tours. It was a small group tour with a packed itinerary. Visiting everything from textile factories, shipyards, tea plantations, brick factories to schools, bustling cities, hidden villages and jungles and not forgetting the very loud and colourful Raas Festival.
Everything was organised very professionally, staying at various locations in clean and comfortable accommodation. Food was very carefully chosen and very tasty with plenty of options. The guides were very knowledgable and fun to listen too. The people of Bangladesh are probably the friendliest most inviting people that I have met during my travels and will make you safe and secure.
‘A heaven for photographers’ it is indeed! Take plenty of memory cards for your camera and a sense of adventure and you’ll have a great time. I would definitely recommend using Nijhoom Tours in order to see parts of Bangladesh that you probably would not if you travel there solo. Go for it!
I have just completed a 28 day tour of the country with Hasan. It was excellent, we got to see and expeneince every corner of the country visting archaeological sites, historical sites and see the varied landscapes. We meet many different tribal peoples along the way visting their villages and being invited into their homes for tea. We really got a feel for the culture of the country joining in with the everyday activities of the locals. It was well worth spedning 28 days in the country to really get to know it. I would definaetly recommend this trip.
Booked the 2 Day Photography Tour (Old and New Dhaka, East and West). Made an initial enquiry, received a link to the payment gateway (Payoneer), paid with credit card and received confirmation of payment soon after. Easy and efficient process.
A few days before tour date, received an email from Nijhoom Tours reconfirming both our hotel address and start times for each day, plus the WhatsApp numbers for our guide Opu and Hasan, the owner of the company.
Opu met us in our hotel foyer on Day 1 (7.00am). First stop a bustling and crowded wholesale market - vendors selling fruit, vegetables, meats, fish plus more. Its fast photography, many moving subjects. Opu was close by, not interfering but assisting if vendors asked questions. He guided us making sure we had multiple opportunities to take photographs in different areas of the market, with different light and subject matter. We often just stood still, letting the market pass us! This was a highlight.
The tour follows the places listed on the itinerary however bare in mind the places visited may change - dependent on weather, traffic, time of the day, time of the year or the day (Friday is closed). Traffic in Dhaka is problematic, so be flexible, patient and open minded if you skip areas or the itinerary changes.
The tour visits Old and New Dhaka - including Shankhari Bazar, Islampur Road, Nawabpur Road, Chawk Bazar and many more places. We visited the Launch Terminal, Sadar Ghat and Ship repair yard (it’s not a ship breaking yard) taking a row boat across the River. This was another highlight of the tour.
You travel in an air conditioned van to most areas (and walk through the heart of Old Dhaka). You are dropped off at a certain point, then walk, with the van collecting you at the other end of a street or bazar. The van was clean, comfortable, the driver safe and skillful. Lunch is at a popular, clean and air conditioned restaurant in Old Dhaka.
Opu is a very professional guide, calm in nature. He did not rush us when photographing - at times he followed us as we chased the movement, subject, color and light. We enjoyed so many laughs over the 2 days with Opu.
We recommend the photography tour or even booking a city day tour with Nijhoom Tours. You do not need to be a photographer to book this tour - it would suit anyone. You just need to be able to walk the narrow streets and lane ways of Old Dhaka. Bangladesh is a difficult country to arrange and negotiate your own transport, and knowing what locations to visit in Dhaka - you do need local knowledge. Nijhoom Tours arranged it all, easily, professionally and hassle free.
We spent a remarkable day with Hassan touring Old Dhaka. What a great experience. Hassan was very well organized, punctual, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, unflappable and comfortable with our family group of five people. His advice was sound. The Pink Palace did not warrant a long visit. The ferries and boats were fascinating. The markets teemed with people and energy. Intense but comfortable crowds. Incredible sights, sounds and smells. You have not visited Bangladesh without going on this tour through Old Dhaka!
