Sonargaon, the old capital, is about an hour by car from Dhaka (Friday morning traffic, else it can take more than double the time). It is a sinle street lined with old houses, and there are one or two where you can get inside. One of them, the natch ghar or dance hall has some good designs on the ceiling. However, looking at the condition of the houses, it isnot even advisable. And the place is clean. No garbage at all.
The houses are nineteenth century and were owned by prosperous businessmen. It is only the atmosphere of the street that is important. S
There is a small museum nearby with nice gardens where you can drop in on your way back.

Awesome food. Good service. Lot of variety especially in buffet dinner. The ambiance is superb. The location is very bad. Lot of traffic Jam outside.

One should visit Sonargaon over the weekend. It's 1.5 hours drive away from Dhaka city. it was quite awesome to experience the Old Dhaka architectures at Sonargaon. Must visit for any traveler to Bangladesh.

If anybody visit there will learn a lot from the museum about the ancient Bangla. The museum is situated at the castle of King Isa Khan a great warrior at the Moghal period.
