This is a relatively new hotel, having been open for just a few months. So there are some teething troubles, but the management and staff are clearly working hard to fix things and the level of customer orientation is very high indeed. They have clearly been well-trained and present a very good image for the new hotel. It is disappointing they are having problems completing the gym and the pool because there is nothing to do in the hotel otherwise. Currently there is no business centre facility either which is a little inconvenient. But the staff are very willing to assist with printing and arranging DHL for example. The rooms are excellent and of a high international standard. The overall look of the place is very good. Like all places in Bangladesh the small details are sometimes overlooked (eg. ensuring that the place is regularly sprayed so the mosquitoes are killed off; replacing the horrible instant coffee with fresh (at these prices instant coffee is not acceptable); some of the decoration up close could be better finished; ensuring seat cushions are kept clean etc). but this may be because of the newness of the place. I'm very happy staying here - it is friendly without being in your face; staff are pleasant and very professional. Every request I have made, every small problem I have needed fixed, has been attended to quickly and to my satisfaction. I would say the food is average in quality at the moment and comparatively very expensive (I have not tried the expensive and very up-market looking Japanese restaurant on the roof yet). Breakfast is disappointing. They should move the breakfast facility to the restaurant on the roof - it's bigger, brighter and has great views. The current breakfast/lunch area should be a coffee shop or turned into a couple of meeting rooms - the lack of small meeting/ work rooms is a bit disappointing as so many visitors to Dhaka come on business, not for tourism. They could provide a very good service by having 2/3 meeting/seminar rooms. The lobby is big and bright but the space is not easy to make use of at the moment - they should put more comfortable furniture to encourage people to sit, read, have tea or whatever and help to create some atmosphere. The lift needs to be made more security oriented so that people cannot be viewed from the street as they go up and down on the outside of the building. The exterior decor needs to be finished as the areas of bare concrete are unattractive and the state of the parking and dusty road outside the hotel is not acceptable. But work to correct all of these things is underway and I am sure in 6 months the place will be totally completed. If they can keep up their standards as the hotel matures this will be a great place to stay. It is untypical for Dhaka in its style and level of service. It is not cheap but the cost of accommodation has rocketed in the past several years in Dhaka. Certainly compared with its competitors such as the Radisson and the massively overpriced and rather vulgar Westin, it represents value for money. As a long-staying guest they were open to negotiating a lower rate, which is helpful. Come and stay - you will enjoy the place very much.
