It's fun to go for hiking and if you like archaeology, it's even better. Other than that, nothing special, for me...

Though out of the way from the city (about 45 minute drive), it is well worth it to visit.

Don't miss out on the small museum at the entrance, and be sure to go down stairs in that museum, where a video shows the lifestyle of the ancient people who inhabited the lands. Very professionally done.

The petroglyphs themselves are better understood after going through the museum at the entrance.

A well organised attraction an hour from Baku, that is definitely worth seeing.

The visitor centre is excellent with informative displays that give you a really good grounding before you head up the hill to look at the actual rock art.

The paths around the exhibits on the hill side are well organised and maintained and the art itself is very interesting - it's the best I've seen.

The hotels will try to sell you an overpriced excursion here (ours tried to squeeze 360 Manats for four people). Go into the street, find a taxi, agree a price with him and you'll save a fortune - 100 Manats tops with the taxi waiting for you whilst you walk around should be the absolute maximium.

The site and the museum are located about 90 mins out of Baku. We were actually impressed with the interactive section of the museum. Access to key rock art exhibits was also well designed. Unfortunately access to nearby mud vulcanos is now closed, so don't expect to do a combined trip.
