Its real old in terms of Buildings. Very narrow pathways/road. Also too much ups and down. Having nice restaurants and even money exchange

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights in Old Baku. Due to the very warm temperatures we tended to explore of a morning and late afternoon. So many cafes and restaurants to stop, relax, enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. Found the souvenir shops were much of a muchness selling the same thing.

If you’re visiting Baku, you must spend some time in the Old City. Lots of sights, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower. However, be prepared to pay 15AZN (approx US$9) to get into both of those attractions.

The old town is well worth a visit. Lovely old cobblestone streets narrow alleys lots to see (check out the torture museum.. a bit depressing. Hard to believe how cruel people can be). Some good restaurants but some very touristy and dodgy.

Walking around the palace area at the top of the city - yes it is uphill if you start at the Maiden Tower. Earlier I mentioned stopping at the windows where a woman is making Qutab and next door a man is selling Baklava. Get the drippy kind of Baklava.
