Gorgeous to just sit and watch the passing parade. Lovely restaurants and cafe's to enjoy coffee, cake etc. Central meeting point where lots of socialising takes place.

“Fun and real place in Baku”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

All around in Fountain Square were people young and old enjoying the time walking around, watching the merry-go-round, watching children playing in the chairs that had hacks that looked like faces, playing with the lit paving stones. Around the sides were reasonable priced cafes with good food, shops and even up-market ones at that, and a spirit of just enjoyment in the people of being there. I noticed as well several times this is where the BBC "Man on the Street" would set up to ascertain the climate of the people of Baku. This area is not quite the Old City, not quite the glitz of 28Mall, but certainly has a great feel of the city to it.

“The heart of the centre”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This Square is located in the centre of the city and is famous because it's one of the oldest squares of Baku. Nowadays it's very modern and larger than it was many years ago. It always had many various fountains, cafes and also had many attractions for children. This square was also known as a place of free artists' gathering, the place where tourists could buy very beautiful pictures of "Old Baku", antiques and souvenirs. Nowdays there isn't passage full of artists and souvenirs, the fountains are reconstructed and unfortunately, the square lost its spice. Nevertheless, every tourist visiting Baku must have a walk along this square and spend there at least one hour. Have an advice: If you want to enjoy the view of the square having meal at the same time, then find "Nargiz centre" and go up for the top, where it has a restaurant "Dalida", order something national and enjoy!!!
P.S. If you have time, then have a walk to the "Malakan" square and "Gubernator" square. Tha last one is may famous, especially in the evenings.

“The central part of Baku”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Fountain Square is the place where, if you don't know any other landmark, to meet.
Lots of restaurants, bars, clubs in the square and off the side streets.
Plenty of fountains, and I mean plenty, very picturesque in the evenings as most of the fountains are lit.
