Comfortable hotel, nice experience, very well equipped and with the room very quiet e clean.
Unfortunately mediocre breakfast (international food) due doesn't fresh food (I stayed during a Sunday). Personnel always kind and ready for any satisfaction.
The hotel is near the centre (with a taxi).

I stayed at Chirag Plaza for 6 weeks during Jan-feb 2013 and very very happy with everything. Rooms are clean, spacious and service is excellent.

Hotel staff is english speaking and very very friendly especially Front Desk and Cafeteria staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable at the hotel. Free Wi-Fi was high speed and very reliable as it should be in a business hotel.

Hotel is situated in Industrial area hence bit away from City Center but very easy to get there on Bus or on a Taxi.

Overall extremely happy with this hotel. Gym or any recreational activity would make it a 5 star from me!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with study desk, they are spacious and lots of room.

We stayed at this hotel last year during Eurovision. It was our first time in Azerbaijan and Chirag Plaza was reassuring in providing home comforts with international quality service. The wifi was super-fast and free.

The management kept in email contact before arrival and, due to our longish stay, upgraded us to an executive suit. This indulged us with a king bed, 2 flat-screen TVs and extra space and seating, including a comfy long lounge. The outlook granted views over machinations of the outer city. Everything was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was spacious and I enjoyed its novel rainshower.

We arranged to be met by their driver at the airport, which he did, and he was courteous and drove competently. Staff were fabulously efficient, quick to deal with inquiries and to rein-in a taxi when we needed. Sometimes their own driver whizzed us in to make concerts on time. He kindly gave us a brolly when caught-out by rain. The Baku 'London Taxis' are also safe and comfy and their charges reasonable, so don't be put off by being less central.

There's an auto-teller in the corner of the foyer, very convenient.

The breakfast area merged into a 24-hour cafe. This had a big screen, which was great for watching Eurovision together with others, the night we didn't go to a concert.

Room service was friendly and obliging. I found the style of some dishes strange, but what is traveling for?

If you walk out from the hotel you'll find a sports stadium and a university. A short stroll up the road was an attractive looking Japanese cafe and various others, but we did not get to try these.

Overall I recommend this hotel for anyone nervous about Azerbaijan - it provides a firm home-base with multi-lingual staff and good quality internet. It also appears well setup for commercial travellers and conferences.

I spent a week there. Superb service, elegant rooms and great people. The Breakfast is amazing. One morning, our group left early and the staff came in early so we could have breakfast at 5 am. They will do anything for you. We were a group and everyone felt at home.

This was my first time in Baku, and I was greeted with very helpful reception staff. They were also very helpful when I was enquiring about late checkouts towards the end of my stay too.

The room was very spacious and modern, with a good sized bathroom, which itself was very well maintained.

My only complaint, which is nothing the hotel can do anything about, is that the noise from car horns outside was literally non-stop. There is a busy inter section just outside the hotel, and there was a lot of traffic at all hours of the day.

There was free wifi available, just ask for a code from reception.
Overall a great stay, and unless you want a hotel nearer the city centre, I would thoroughly recommend it.

Boutiquish interior in western style, very comfortable rooms of different sizes. Friendly and helpful staff, not only English or Russian but even German speaking - it has German management. Good breakfast in a stylish lobby bar and a good rooftop restaurant with a small menue list but including top quality steaks and good wines.
Reasonable priced and only 5 minutes by cab to downtown. The even better location if your job is not downtown.

We travelled to Baku for Eurovision and it wasn't until the last minute that we were able to actually get a hotel. Chirag Plaza is a short taxi drive out of the city centre but with the new "London Taxis" running this was no problem. It was reliably less than Azn 5 each way and we felt safe in the traffic chaos in the taxis. It does mean you have to plan your days, though. No running back to the hotel room if you forget your shoes. While you could technically walk to town, the road traffic would make it impractical.

Edge-on the building looks thin but this must be an illusion because it is quite normal inside. We had a pick-up from the airport on arrival. The staff were enthusiastic in trying to meet our needs, even though Azerbaijan as a whole is still struggling with english as a second (or fifth) language. There was an ATM in the foyer: lucky, as you really need Azn cash here and you don't want to leave the country with unspent cash. Reputedly the city had EFTPOS machines rolled out only REALLY recently in time for the big event.

We were upgraded to the Executive Room for a week's stay. There was free internet (take note, Australian hotels) in our room requiring a daily password. It worked with several devices, which isn't always the case in other places. The room was functional in sombre tones. I was always cold but couldn't be bothered trying to sort out the temperature settings. It did mean that socks and undies took 36 hours to dry, hanging in the bathroom. There were two TV screens and the power socket stayed on, for charging batteries, even when the room was powered down when we went out. While we barely used the minibar, there were always two bottles of still water provided as complimentary.

The bathroom included a "rain shower" with multiple settings. The room included a safe and an ironing board. The view of the back of Baku and the fabulous road traffic was fine.

Breakfast was included but it was in a 24-hour cafe restaurant on the ground floor corner and was running out of food before being cleared away before the 10am finish. Because the Eurovision shows began at midnight we were regularly missing or almost missing breakfast but the waiting staff were good enough to bring us coffees anyway. The food in general was quite okay and we ordered room service twice. Again the nervous attempts to provide international standard hospitality were typical of Baku in general. We didn't get to sample the restaurant on the upstairs level but the menu looked good.

Overall it is a functionally comfortable hotel where the staff make the extra effort to make you feel welcome. It is not walking distance from Baku city centre/old town but with the new taxis in operation it is a good option for a stay in Baku

Room Tip: executive room is roomy and above the traffic noise
