A friend and I arrived late in the evening and went to the Baku Palace Hotel where we had reserved a room. As it turns out, there was no room available for us. The manager accommodated us in another property a couple of blocks away that was still partially under renovation and that will eventually be marketed as a separate inn. We ended up having a whole apartment (with several rooms) to ourselves - it was quite the experience.
The adornments in the apartment were quite extravagant - attempting to emulate a French aristocratic residence. The bathroom was brand new and clean - we were probably the first guests to ever use it.
Overall the experience was fun and well worth the reasonable price paid. Just don't expect an actual palace if you choose this hotel - it's a guesthouse.More
