I've come to Yerevan to spend 6 months and JR's Hostel has been the first place where I've landed. I'm pretty sure that I could't have been more lucky.
First of all, Joseph (the owner) is a special person. Very polite and kind, he loves his job and is not moved only by profit.
As a consequence, in first place he treats people as individuals, and not as mere customers who come to spend money (he also cooks very well, which means that sometimes it can happen to share a dinner!)
The hostel is closed to the center (20min by walk, 10 by bus or metro or taxi). And there's also a garden, where's is so nice having breakfast, lunch and dinners..(kitchen is big and fully equipped).
The place inside is very very nice. Shared spaces are big (very nice livingroom with big sofas, wide tables in tek wood) and rooms are neat and tidy.
Joseph runs the hostel with Tatev, a young Armenian lady very well organized who can help you out on any matter.
I now have found another place to live, but sometimes I go at JR's hostel just to have a beer and say hi to Joseph and Tatev.
PS my parents are coming and, of course, they'll go at JR's.
