“Poor food, unprofessional staff, cheating”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

This is my 2nd visit to a Tufenkian restaurant, and it appears that nothing changes over years and regardless of location (be it Yerevan or Tsapatagh). No value for big money, unprofessional staff, and economy on things like liquid soap in the toilet, good quality napkins, etc... And last but not least: be aware that you may be charged for things you haven't ordered, so it might make sense to read the invoice.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your review. We do value customer feedback. This is your second review regarding Tufenkian restaurants in three years and unfortunately both of them are negative. But it's the first time that our staff has been accused of being unprofessional and especially cheating, since we pay a very close attention to high quality customer service and it is not in our company ethics to be cheating on anything at all.
As for liquid soap and napkins, please be aware that we do not have any low quality supplies in any of our properties.
However, thank you for your feedback. If you have further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us directly via email (info@tufenkian.am) or telephone (+37410520911).
We will be happy to help you.

Kind Regards

“Gourmet Armenian Food in a Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

The Kharpert Restaurant at the Tufenkian Hotel in Yerevan bills its raison d'etre as having researched 450 year-old Armenian cookbooks to discover authentic Armenian food before it was blended with Persian and Turkish influences. The result is a culinary adventure unlike any you'll have in Armenia.

The starters sound plain: lentils with carrots and yoghurt or beans and bread, but the flavor fusion that is created is at once both surprising and overwhelming. The mains are simply exquisite. The walnut covered filet of trout is especially good. The wine list is also strong.

Seldom have I been so surprised by such seemingly simple food. My wife and and return whenever we can and continue to find new adventures on the menu.

A great restaurant - maybe Yerevan's best.

“Delicious Armenian food in a beautiful restaurant near Vernissage Market”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

After a long, hot day sightseeing in Yerevan, we saw the Tufenkian hotel just on the corner of the Vernissage Market and quite near to the beautiful Republic Square and went right in, since we had read in a magazine about these wonderful hotels and restaurants built by entrepreneur James Tufenkian. We were not disappointed!

The restaurant is beautiful, modern and traditional at the same time. The hotel looks just the same (we are not staying there, but the appearance is excellent. We used the restrooms and they were modern, clean and perfect).

The food is wonderful. There are many typical Armenian dishes, which, as they explain in the menu, they cook using old recipes they have found in Armenian kitchens and ancient cookbooks. They also offer Italian dishes, but we only ate Armenian, since we are here in Yerevan! We can always eat Italian food anywhere else!

We had grape leaves filled with meat, Esmirna kufta, Kharpert kufta, Manti (divine little "boats" filled with meat and garnished with yogurt and garlic) and Soubereg. For dessert we had exquisite Khadayf, Semolina Balls with nuts and honey, and a non Armenian outstanding small warm chocolate with vanilla ice cream.

We can surely recommend this restaurant! Thanks, Tufenkian!

“Traditional Armenian cousin”
Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

The place perfectly introduce the full scope of Armenian sculpture, culture and history. It offers a confortable atmosphere with old style Armenian.
It's a mix of western and eastern original cuisine. Even the ordinary dish here is inteoduced in different way. Very delicious and original food.
