We could thoroughly recommend the Ha Van Hotel. Airport transport arranged from home was efficient and courteous. The hotel was well located, close to restaurants and a very short walk to the beach, but quiet. We booked a slightly more expensive room on the top floor, which was clean, roomy and had a balcony. We had a plasma TV - a pleasant surprise. Staff were courteous and helpful and the Manager, Nicholas, charming. Breakfast was cheap and quite adequate, but those who don't mind a very short walk should try Mecca Lemon Grass Restaurant (just around the corner). This Restaurant , recommended by Nicholas, was top notch and cheap, with beautiful breakfasts and dinners and great staff.

After having an ordinary stay in Da Nang we decided to check out early and come to Nah Trang, best decision we made. We read all the reviews on this hotel and thought "why not". From the moment we arrived thing couldn't have been easier Mr Ha, Mike and Nicholas plus all the staff made our stay so enjoyable, value for money, new rooms ( sound proof ) made for a great night sleep even when you came back in the early hours of the morning! Communication and honest advice was the key here never was there a hint of us being ripped off just really cool people, we are sad to be leaving. 10/10!!!

We stayed at this hotel in October. We booked it based on Trip Advisor reviews after changing our travel plans - we had not intended to visit Nha Trang. We (six of us) were all really pleased that we did - it was almost the most enjoyable few days we had in Vietnam. This was also the cheapest hotel we stayed in. Two of our rooms (we had four) were on the 4th floor so we were really glad of the lift - not all hotels in Vietnam have lifts. The rooms and linen were very clean, the air con worked well (a must in Vietnam!) and the TV had multiple English channels (i didn't watch TV other than to check the weather channel but understand that some people may like to have plenty of choice) The bathrooms are clean and have plenty of hot water - just be aware that in common with many hotels in Vietnam some of the rooms have showers that are not in a cubicle - the shower just comes out of the wall in the same area as the basin and toilet. This isn't a problem as long as you remember to take the toilet paper out before you shower lol! Check out the photo - although some of the rooms have bigger bathrooms with full bath and shower. The roof top bar was quiet but very pleasant. Laundry service was good, cheap and quick. The location is good being just off the main road. Breakfast was fine at the hotel but there are also plenty of other choices just round the corner - whichever you prefer. We loved the foyer - the fridge is stocked with ice cold beer and soft drink at cheap prices and it was a great place to chill, watch the locals go by and chat with other travellers. The two computers in the foyer were readily available with fast internet while we were there. The staff were friendly and helpful. To sum up i wish we could go back tomorrow and would stay longer next time!

Stayed here purely based on other Trip Advisor reviews but had some mixed fortunes here.
On the plus side the room was very nice and clean (soft bed, great pillows and ultra clean bathroom) and the reception staff were fantastic.
In view of the fact there was work going on at the hotel (new windows being out in) I was warned that there would be noise from 11am-5pm and therefore would be given a discount ($16 per night for a double, down from $20).
So, all seemed good except that...a) there is only one PC terminal here (for 36 rooms!), b) was woken up at 09.30 with very loud drilling and banging in rooms next door and upstairs c) was followed to my room and propositioned by a 'lady of the night' who came from nowhere and somehow got into the hotel before the staff realised and dealt with her.
So, there were some negatives but think these were just unfortunate incidents and hopefully not typical events here. The receptionist was great, very apologetic and offered me further discounts that I was more than happy with.
You can see these guys are trying to be the best budget hotel around and will probably succeed (new rooftop bar, new windows, great beds etc) but they should not put people next to rooms where there's work going on and could really do with 2 more PCs.

Thanks for the reviewer's reviews since my last update!

First: The work at the hotel is now completed; it wasn't an easy task to upgrade our facilities so extensively. I agree that we should have done a better ''coordination'' and ''police'' job with the workers about the noise. Execution has been far from perfect in that area. To our defence, some were work were inevitable in earlier hours than originally thought...schedules of the workers were not always compatible with our preferred hours and attendance at the hotel as been unusually high for the season. Sorry again for the inconvenience, we should really have been more careful.

Now that the work is completed, those improvements are just incredibly worth it! You, our guests, will be the net beneficiaries...

Second: We do have 3 computers at the hotels but 2 were not available at the time of the stay of the reviewer (our low season annual maintenance). Now, all our computers are back on the rooftop lounge area.

Third: For the reviewer that could not find the hotel, well...I don't know what to answer except that a third person (with the reviewer) was involve in the process (the second call in Vietnamese) so I can't judge what happened except that my receptionist (our most experienced), after giving the instruction in Vietnamese, got from answer that that they were coming as they were just down the street...what happened? I have my idea (but I have to keep it for myself!) Be assured that with a simple internet search, graphic and precise descriptions are available to find us. Also, the Locals know us, we are the only foreign budget hotel in town, we are a kind of curiosity, subjet of gossips...believe me, they know where we are! MO, it would really difficult to NOT find us!

Lastly, I want to stress again that we are a Mom & Pop operation, literally (my wife and I have 2 kids, a third coming)...and we do not pretend to run a perfect hotel (perfection are for robots). We do try our best to have, for our visitors: comfortable, clean facilities and honest services. We want our guests to feel that they are at home here. If something is not of their likening, they just have talk to us; we are very keen to correct any inconvenience. We care about the peoplestaying here. Still, I have myself more than 15 years experience in the service industry, in some of the best restaurants and hotels in Quebec (and I am only 31) all my life has been in that industry...if I have learned one thing from all those years is that it would be impossible to please everyone, there is always a 10% of the people that would/could never be satisfied. It is a fact and a statistic of life. None the less, even with our more ''difficult guests'' we always stay professionals.

So again, keep in mind that we really are just a budget hotel without the means ($) and corporate executions of the more professional operations. The profits we make are ploughed back into the hotel; it our life. We are honest in all we do and we expect the same from our guests. In just a little more than 2 years we have help more than 20 000 guests to enjoy their stay in Nha Trang and we are very proud to say that the overwhelming majority would come back at the hotel (and many did already). They know what to expect from our team. They know that we are proactive in improvimg our facilities. They know that they will be genuinely welcomed. They know we love what we do and are passionate about it!

Have a great day, visit Nha Trang....and, please, enjoy your vacation.

After a not so good night in other hotel we decided to change and for the same price (18usd, without breakfast) we got a clean nice room with bathtub. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows a bit too tall. There was a computer both in the lobby and in the roof-top bad with free internet. The bar at the top was empty but it is a very nice place just to relax and read even during the day. They serve a set breakfast but we preferred to have it outside for wider choice.

We stayed here for 3 nights, at a cost of $20 per night (inc. breakfast), and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are excellent with really comfy beds, and there's a really cool rooftop bar with great views over the city. The staff are nice, and its a perfect location 1 block back from the beach and close to the main central area.
