“Interesting moments in our life!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

It might be said that spending our family vacation in Six Senses is one of the decision which never makes us down. I love going there. Our family swam, snorkeled in the beautiful bay waters of outlying islands. It is so amazing. Then I love the customer care service here. When I was in rush to leave there, I forgot my wallet with some cash and credit card. Staff in Six Senses made good efforts to give it to me. I highly appreciated it. You should go there and I bet that you will be satisfied like our family :D

For our wedding anniversary and part of a two week vacation to Vietnam, booked 3 nights at Six Senses.
The most expensive accommodation of our trip and with great expectations.
We stayed in Hill top villa #7 about 200 steps above a beautiful bay. The rustic palm thatched villa with a/c. We loved the villa except for the wood boxed Samsung TV and light switches and string wrapped cables ????
The plunge/infinity pool was a perfect cool down after climbing the steps.
The room service waiter had to carry food in a back pack through tropical rain and thunderstorms... awesome!
Coral reef snorkeling from the beach.
Wonderful breakfast buffet, MUST pre-purchase the inclusive package.
"Butler" service only a phone call away to drive the golf cart to bars and restaurants.
But....
Trip Advisor recently rated Vietnam as the cheapest country in the cheapest region for a room and meal night out package, so why is food Soo expensive here?
Wine is as expected throughout SEAsia expensive ... $15 per glass of Chilean wine.
The room service and bar meals are about normal Western hotel rates .. expect $20 for a burger/sandwich.
The big hit comes at the "premier - dining on the rocks", $80 per person plus drinks for a 3 course meal and frankly I've had better airline food.
Big prices for Western food is maybe understandable but again $80 per head plus drinks for a Vietnamese buffet, huh?? given local food and labour costs this must be an astronomical markup!
The stay left me with confused responses, great location and villas and fantastic staff but the restaurant prices left me with my jaw on the floor.

Room Tip: Hill Top Villa great if you want privacy and view but avoid if 200 steps each way to other facilitie...

Dear 3XBusTraveller,

Thank you for your candied review, to which we are delighted you enjoyed your overall experience at Ninh Van Bay.. I was sincerely pleased that you highlighted our fantastic In Villa dinning team, to which continuously brave the elements and countless steps to deliver your orders with a smile...

Your comments pertaining framed TV's and wrapped cables is totally understandable and something the resort is moving away from, which will be clearly evident over the next 12 months.

I was sorry to hear you felt that our food and beverage prices were quite high, as our prices are well within the boundaries of other five star establishments in Vietnam. Despite popular belief many products are imported into Vietnam, especially high ticket items such as meat, dairy and selected seafood which all carry additional freight charges.. Due to the above the contribution margin on our food is surprising lower than in most European cities, however that said we will re-look at our Menu analysis, comp set prices and price for quality...

Once again thank you for your kind and helpful review, as we sincerely appreciate your feedback...

With sincere regards,

Gary Henden

We stayed at the resort during our anniversary in June. The location is just amazing. The ocean and the bay are beautiful and we will always remember our stay in our beach villa. I read that there isn't a heavy rain season in this area, however we got quite some rain during our stay. As it was raining also at night we missed the view to the stars while swimming in our pool. The beach villa is great as there is just a couple of steps to the ocean. The ocean is very clear and allows a relaxed swim or a snorkeling tour through the reef.

The management is focused very much on environmental aspects, which is good. However I believe in some areas it is a bit overstated. I don't understand why TV or telephone cables need to be wrapped with natural ropes. Maybe somebody understand the deeper thought. Also because there is a lot of wood, it takes quite some time until the wood dries after a heavy rain. In general I would recommend to have a better roofing to allow being outside even if its raining.

The staff provides great service, is always friendly and responded very promptly to any requests. We enjoyed especially the in-villa dinning and eating at our deck overlooking the sea. A great experience.

The breakfast was very good and provided everything from pastry, to bacon and eggs, fruits and yogurts as well as Asian rice noodles. We did not eat at the rock restaurant, but we tried - besides in-villa dinning - the restaurant at the bay. In my mind the food is good, but not outstanding. You get complimentary water in the villas. The prices for drinks from the mini bar are high in my mind, however you don't have an alternative, as there is nothing else around.

Overall it was a perfect week and we will always remember it.

Room Tip: If you like to swim in the ocean go for a beach villa.

Dear relssog,

Warm greetings from Vietnam!

Thank you for choosing Six Senses Ninh Van bay during your trip in Nhatrang. We are very proud that, along with our amazing setting, our team has become the highlight of your experience with us. It is a pleasure for all of us to meet and serve our guests. Kindly know that we have shared your comment with the whole team, so that they know their efforts are recognized by our guests.

We seem to have fallen short for our food offerings which is not common at the resort. However, we have brought this point up to the culinary team to ensure that appropriate follow-up and training is undertaken. Please rest assured that we have taken actions to remedy the issue.

We believe that you had a enjoyable stay and we shall look forward to welcoming you back to our bay in the near future.

Best regards,

The Management team

Booked this hotel for 3 nights, and only wished we could stay longer! Everything about the hotel and island is heaven. Our villa was a hilltop villa, which required a few steps to walk up to, however this did not faze us. The actual villa is made from all wood and has a private pool and beautiful wooden bathtub. Breakfast was fantastic, as was as the private beach. If you are wanting to splash out, or celebrate an anniversary/honeymoon this is the place to do it! Be aware though that the hotel is located on a private island, which means you should be prepared for some additional costs. For example, to get to the island you will need to take the hotels speedboat which from memory costs $40US per person per way. In addition, the restaurant, although tasty was a little pricey. However saying this, if you are aware of such costs beforehand, you can budget them in. This was a wonderful resort, and was the most memorable place for us in Vietnam.

Room Tip: Hilltop Villa had an amazing view of the ocean, as well as a little privacy

Dear Danielle98765,

Wow! Thank you for your positive review about Six Senses Ninh Van Bay!

It's a pleasure to know that overall you enjoyed the stay especially the resort facilities, breakfast offerings. Our beautiful private beach along with our coral reef just in front of the bay are indeed our advantages against other beach resorts.

As for the transfer cost, we always inform our guest about that before coming. If they know that we are on a remote island, they will understand the boat journey is the only way to reach here.

We wish you a safe journey home and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to "the most memorable place in Vietnam".

Best regards,

Sitting here in a deluge of rain - after a beautiful hot day - and it is even lovely in the wet! Talk about wonderful gem off the beaten track. We are here for a few days and are having a ball. Our beachfront villa sits no further than 10 metres from the high tide and surprise surprise I had no idea there was a fully fledged coral reef within strokes of the shore. It is an impressive reef teaming with tropical fish and NO sharks. Bonus! The team here are delightful and polite. The food fantastic - brekkie very nice. Must try the local cuisine if you come here. The beachfront and water villas are the most well placed in my opinion. Some other notable highlights for guests: pushbikes for each room, a great wine menu which is surprising in Asia, a terrific day spa, kids club and each room has a pool. There are mostly couples here with a smattering of expat families on short breaks with their kids, Definitely worth a stay and if you are flying from Europe, US or Australia break up your commute to here with a night in Singapore, HK, Saigon or Hanoi. Too much in one go to get here unless you dont mind being exhausted!

Room Tip: If you like water choose the beach or water villas. If you dont mind a hike the hill villa is fine.

Visited this paradise place last year with my husband. Our villa was even above our expectations.
Service is amazing, I did not get better service anywhere before. It was very nice to get my birthday cake in present and so many kind attention for me on those day.
This attention was very honest and pure, very warm.

The nature is super and sea is very clean with this lovely small fishes around. Our butler was amazing.
Food is a separate topic. I always loved vietnamese cousine but this food was just... no words.
Somebody can say it is very expensive. Yes, it is. But if to compare this place with, for example, Four Season in Malaysia, for the same price it was absolutely different, and service was different as well.

We were so in love with Six Sense after our trip, so this year we'll repeat our trip to Six Sense, but to other country :) Six Sense is unique. I wish this place's policy will stay the same forever.

Room Tip: Hill Top Villa is a best for private.
