My girlfriend and I stayed in the Hien Mai Hotel for 3 nights in mid-April 2013.
We stayed in a Deluxe double room which was on the first floor and came with a large double bed with bedside table one side (with phone), a small dressing table with chair and mirror, a wardrobe with safety deposit drawer, tv, fridge, aircon and a small balcony (albeit looking straight at another building so there was no view). The ensuite was a bathroom/ wet room design and fairly large with modern appliances.
The hotel is quaint and small but clean and modern. It is well located in a small alleyway with a few other guesthouses, diagonally opposite Lantern (an excellent restaurant by the way) just off the main road leading into tourist Nha Trang. It is 2 blocks and less than a 10 minute walk to the beach, 3 minutes to the post office and about 10 minutes from the main area of restaurants and bars although there are several nearer. You are still far enough away though to not pick up any noise or be bothered at all by the bars if that's not your sort of things. It is a maximum 10 minute taxi ride from the station - it cost us 28,000 Dong on the taxi metre for an evening journey (7pm) - DO NOT LET THEM TRY AND FIX THE COST - we were quoted 100,000 Dong!!
The wifi was slightly shakey in our room and only seemed to work properly when you were standing in one place. There were 2 available computers to use downstairs although I am not sure what the charge was (if any).
We only saw 2 staff the whole time we were there but they were both friendly. The receptionist/ breakfast lady was very sweet and spoke reasonable English. She was able to help with our onward travel plans by train to HCMC and book us a taxi to take us to the station when we left. Breakfast was very basic and consisted of a small plate of fruit, a baguette and 2 eggs cooked any style, plus tea and coffee. It is randomly served to you on the only 4 person table in the kitchen area so be prepared to share your breakfast with others if the hotel is full. This didn't bother us but I know some people prefer their privacy, especially in the mornings!
Overall, we had a good stay at Hien Mai Hotel and would recommend to other budget travellers.
