I was hoping for great things from this restaurant based on previous reviews. I was looking for an off-the-beaten track, non-touristy place with great ambiance and fantastic local food. However, I was a little skeptical when the tour manager of our hotel mentioned that he brings his groups here as a lunch spot. Not that that is in itself so terrible, I was just hoping to have this great local "find" - someplace not frequented by tour groups. Still, undeterred, we headed out.
I will say that the ambiance was very nice - it is a ways from the city (about a 20 minute taxi ride) down some very quiet streets. And the restaurant itself is very quiet and nice, long picnic table style seating in one area, more traditional seats in the other, hand-written (extensive) menu, low lights. Service is very friendly (not everyone speaks English, but they brought over someone who did) and they called a taxi for us when it was time to leave. I just was hoping for more in terms of the food - more flavor, more spice, less oil, more memorable.
Anyway, it was inexpensive (under $20 for 2) and in all fairness, I do not thing Nha Trang is really a place for foodies. It just didn't live up to my great expectations.
