We heard another guest at our hotel ask about Xua as they had a recommendation from an owner of a restaurant. This is 7km from the beachfront in Nha Trang, about a $5 cab ride. We did it in the dark, after leaving the city streets, went down country lanes, to Xua's gate which looks traditional and old. The place is in the fields, and the house made of clay jugs, instead of tiles or bricks, lots of woods and very traditional low wood tables, and benches Vietnamese style. The host was Vince, a Vietname American whose wifes family owned the land and started the restaurant. He suggested a few dishes, pancakes stuffed with veggies and pork, fried, deep fried chicken wings, a beef clay pot , all delicious. An usual desert of rice starch around a mung bean in coconut sauce, good as well. The menu was handwritten, went on for pages, and without Vince's help, we would have been lost. It would be great for a big group to try a lot of things - only the 2 of us. All in all a different but rewarding experience.
