Having been in Nha Trang every year for many years we have tried several hotels and guest houses. We had a very pleasant stay (about 2 weeks) at the King Town Hotel and will return again in 2010. The hotel had just opened when we were there, so it will be interesting to see if the building and rooms will be in as good shape after one year. Hotels, and guest houses in particular, in Vietnam seem to deteriorate rapidly with only minimal maintenance being done.

But one may hope...

My husband and I stayed in the Kingtown Hotel for 7 nights. It was recommended to us by Rainbow Dive Centre (which is 2 minute walk down the street from the hotel). The hotel is one block away from the sea. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a room with a balcony. We could therefore sea the beach and sea from our room. The street in front of the hotel, is quite a busy, but interesting street. We spent many evenings on the balcony, enjoying sundowners and watching the crazy-ness on the street downstairs. Our room was a good size. It had a TV (loads of channels to choose from) and a minibar. An ensuite bathroom. Rooms and bathroom very clean. The staff was extremely helpful. This hotel is really good value for money. And Nha Trang is a beautiful beach side town. Give it a few years and I think it will be crowded with loads of tourists and 5-star hotels / resorts.

My friend and I found the King town hotel after staying at a dodgy nigt in another hotel Nha Trang. We checked out one hotel and spotted the King town hotel around the corner. We decided to have a look at the room and meet the staff . Was well worth it.

The rooms were new, clean and roomy. The bathrooms were the best we had seen after a month in Vietnam, breakfast included daily ( buffet style) free water and fruit as well. The location was one blacok from the beach, and the top level boasts a pool which overlooks the ocean.

The staff were lovely, and very accommodating - nothing was too much for them. They could oragnise anything that you asked!

We will definately stay at King Town again. This hotel is new and why they are not that many reviews!

the one place to rest from the fast paced action of the street should be the hotel... the staff constantly tried to sell tours and would not let up.

the staff was rude and annoying!

Although the hotel is very well appointed and was recommended to us by another traveller, there are a few minus points to the hotel as well as a very few pluses!

First we were greeted by a man on a motorbike who had been sent to pick myself and my partner up from the drop off point of the overnight bus from Hoi An. He was going to try and get us both and 50kg of luggage on the back of his scooter!

We got to the hotel and were greeted in a very polite and friendly manner as we have experienced in all the hotels we've stayed at, however they were looking to charge us $10 more than we originally booked. We complained about it and were upgraded to a room with a sea view. If you stood precariously on a chair and craned your neck on the tiny balcony you could just make out where the sea was!

The air con didn't work when we arrived and thought it broken. We called reception to tell them that it wasn't working and they told us it was all controlled from the reception desk. They turned that on and it was fine.

Because we'd spent 12 hours on a cramped sweaty bus we wanted a shower... This time, there was no hot water. Again we called reception who said it was all controlled from down there and that to give it ten minutes and it should be hot enough to shower. Sure enough, ten minutes later the water was hot enough... For one shower! The rest of the stay the water was tepid at best.

The wireless Internet kept losing it's signal and therefore we couldn't do much research on forward travel which was extremely frustrating and to top it all off, the guy behind reception (we think he was the concierge) kept coming on to us both! Which was extremely intimidating. Kept telling s both how handsome we are and that if we were going out that evening to call him! For what purpose I have no idea and neither my partner or I gave him even the slightest incling that we were interested!

Breakfast wasn't much cop either. Strange combinations of food and coffee so strong it almost melted the spoon!

To make the whole experience even more enjoyable there is tons of building works going on locally that meant you couldn't sleep much past 0700hrs!
