“A peaceful place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

This wasn't our favourite but the large pond and decorative tombs set within peaceful grounds makes this one of the better tombs we visited.

“well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This Tomb covers a large area so it takes some time to see it all as the buildings are a little 'spread out'. There is quite a bit of variety in styles which makes it interesting architecturally, but my favourite was the Xung Khiem Pavilion, which I thought very Japanese looking, overlooking the lake. Parts of the grounds seem in need of a little TLC but it was still very enjoyable exploring the site and the various buildings. Unusually it was not crowded but perhaps we were just lucky to be between tour buses, and most of the visitors that were there seemed to visit only the main buildings close to the gates and not explore those areas further away.

“The most popular Emperor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

Our guide informed us that Tu Duc, the fourth emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty was arguably the most popular emperor of his time. His story is a particularly interesting one where he was obviously so popular almost every eligible wanted to be his wife - he had a 100 or so wives. The location of the rather large mausoleum is very peaceful and perched on a very calm lake. Lovely!

“Wives aplenty!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Tu Duc was such a wealthy and influential person he could afford hundred of wives. You will see where all the living quarters were and begin to understand the power of the man and the society in which he lived. The architecture is stunning, the design impressive and interesting.

“Harmony”

Very pleasant place, seven kilometer from Hue center. Nice lotus lake and a romantic garden. This is a place to sit down and let the history come to you.
