“Lovely Temple but don't get local boat back!”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

We walked to the Temple as part of our daily exercise but as it was very humid we decided to either rickshaw or taxi back. The taxi ride was 100,000VD. We were asked if we wanted to go by boat for 250,000VD and we negotiated 200,000. As soon as we set off we were pestered about buying clothing and pictures.

On saying no each time the boat travelled faster, which suited us as we didn't want to be hassled. Three times we were confronted with objects to buy. On reaching shore we were asked for 400,000VD as it was then explained to us that it was 200,000VD per person. At the Temple two different dragon boat owners approached us and each of them quoted 250,000 per boat.

Double check before accepting a ride. This soured our day. Be warned.

In regards to the Temple visit, ladies might find it useful to have a few tissues in their handbags for visits to the WC.

“Pagoda with a beautiful view”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We took our time to walk around this pagoda. Such a pretty pagoda with a beautiful! We loved it.
Some suggested to visit this pagoda in the late afternoon, when there're not many tourists walking around!
Would visit again if we come back to Hue!

“Even on the cruise they are selling "stuff"”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

What was supposed to be a leisurely cruise on the very lovely Perfume (Hue) River turned into another hustle. We boarded the boat and sat in plastic Chairs probably made in China for the $Store. We no sooner pushed away from the river bank and two ladies came out of the rear of the boat laden with all sorts of clothing....robes, nightgowns, etc. It turned out that all the folks on the boat found it so funny, it made the trip even more fun, certainly not what the boat owner expected. If you can get past all the pushy sales gimmicks at every stop, the city of Hue and the Perfume River are certainly beautiful.
