Would definitely recommend anyone travelling to Hue to stay in this hotel!
We booked a deluxe triple room with river view for about USD65 per night and they upgraded us to a suite with fantastic view of the river! We liked the room so much that we extended our stay for another 2 nights on the spot.
The hotel offered pick-up service from the train station. We were warmly greeted by a hotel staff (think he works as a receptionist as well) upon exiting the train station who then brought us to a waiting taxi. We felt so bad as our train was late by about 30 mins and the staff has been waiting there for more than an hour for us. As he spoke English, we also asked the staff to bring us to the ticketing counter to buy our return tickets (although he did not assist in the ticket purchase).
The staff all spoke good english and provided good recommendation on where to go.
Swimming pool was small but offered a good view of the surronding (including the Perfume River). Good place to watch the sunset. Water seem very chorine-free which worried me initially due to bacteria but I noticed that the pool seems to be cleaned every night. Gym was nothing fanciful with a few exercise machines placed at the corner of the swimming pool floor.
The roof-top bar served food and drinks but tends to be pricey and not value for money especially when there are so many nice bar/restuarant in the surrounding.
A good spread was also available for breakfast which included a combination of local flavours and international servings. We go feel spoilt for choice over the breakfast selections, no complains when we are having breakfast for 3 consecutive days there.
The massage available in the hotel seemed value for money though we did not have the time to try it out.
15 mins walk to The Citadel (including a slow stroll along the river), 2 mins walk to the river, eateries round the corner, local provisional store next door. Do I need to say more?
Hue is a relatively quiet town and as such we have no problem with traffic noises at night.
Strong WIFI even when we are staying on 10th storey as connection is via per floor basis. The suite was big and spacious with a living room, bedroom, 3 balconies and an over-sized bathroom. Bathroom was fitted with a Japanese-style toilet bowl, a built in suana as well as a bathtub. View of the river can also be seen from even the bathroom. Room service is available everyday with the drinks replenished ONLY if they have been consumed. We were pleasantly surprised that fresh fruits and flowers greeted us everyday in the room. It is a room which we look forward to returning every day.
