Ranked #23 of 123 Hotels in Hue
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 1, 2013

We just stayed for three nights, and there is no better place to stay in Hue for the money than the Morin- I simply cannot understand why it is not ranked number one here on Trip Advisor. Stepping into the lobby transports you back in time to an older age of pampered luxury only reserved for the wealthy upper class, and it’s exquisite charm and character perfectly matches Hue, once the home of the rulers of the country. Don’t make the mistake of choosing one of the newer hotels when in Hue, save them for other stops on your trip.

The location is the best in town. Open the double doors and step out onto your private terrace and soak in the view of the Perfume River ( do splurge and book a river view room) and the iconic bridge crossing it, which lights up in multi colors at night. Watch the dragon boats slowly cruising by at all hours of the day. Between you and the river is the riverfront park, which hosts a night market every evening. And it’s just a short 5 minute walk to the backpacker district, which has streets upon streets of restaurants.

The room itself is incredible large and well appointed and furnished. The hotel wraps around a central courtyard which contains the pool and outdoor dining area which is where you will be taking breakfast. Sitting there among the trees and beautiful grounds you might think you are in Europe. I just feel the ambiance of the hotel is the ideal complement to this part of your Vietnam trip.

Room Tip: Book a 2nd floor balcony room overlooking the river. Ask to be close to the bridge rather than farth...

Nicely built colonial hotel with good rooms that have all modern day comforts but ooze history.
Staff is really focussed on high service levels and are doing their best to help you where they can. I made an error whilst booking and ended up in a room with a wrong bed configuration, after talking to the reception my error was corrected at no charge and we bad a room big enough for the 4 of us with an excellent view. Treveldesk was also very helpful, even when we only required train tickets worth 8 euro.
The location of the hotel I perfect and really allows you to explore by foot.

Only tow downsides I can think of. 1 breakfast staff seamed grumpy, not sure why they stood out of the rest of the staff. 2 the water pressure is really good which makes the showers spray horizontal, a short person would not get hit unless he/she was jumping.

Stayed here for 4N at this hotel and it was a wonderful stay. The rooms are MASSIVE, quiet, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent. I was a bit concerned that we were placed on the 1st floor next to the main intersection but these fears were not founded as the double glazed windows stop about 98% of the noise so it was very quiet in the rooms. The rooms are old fashioned with wood floors and the charm that goes with yesteryear buildings. The bed was large and comfy.
One thing I noticed is that the bath base is very narrow which made it a bit awkward when having a shower (it is a shower/bath combo). You almost have to stand at attention when showering. It wasn't a big deal and didn;t make it hard to shower, it was an observation.
It was quiet (tourist wise) when we were there and the staff were a bit too attentive to the point of hovering when you were nearly finished a meal, just so they could take your plate. Also, it would appear management has instructed every staff member to say hello, coz we had staff appearing out of nowhere to say hello. A little over the top, but not a criticism, another observation.
Overall this was an excellent hotel, with friendly - attentive- staff, a nice pool, great location and a buffet breakfast every morning. If in Hue' or looking to stay in Hue' and this hotel falls within your budget, seriously consider it.

Built in 1901 & retains its character but has kept up with modern times. Great location, fabulous rooms & wonderful staff (especially Dinh). Would highly recommend this place to stay in Hue - close to the Citadel area which is a very interesting to explore!

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor, which was great.

We stayed here for 2 nights, in a twin room. Huge room overlooking the Perfume River and the bridge. The aircon worked perfectly, the bathrooms were clean and everything worked perfectly, the beds were comfortable. Lunch and breakfast in the courtyard were both excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, although several of them seemed to be taking on more than one task - I guess because it was the low season they had reduced staff numbers a bit. My manicurist on day one was my poolside barman on day two, which caused my hubby and I a bit of a laugh, but he was very good at both jobs, and so sweet and polite, that we didn't mind. Having arrived from the 5 star Intercontinental in Saigon, we did notice a difference, however unlike some of the other reviews we have read for this time of year, we were perfectly happy with the grand old lady of Hue, and would thoroughly recommend it as a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor in 110, next to the suite Charlie Chaplin stayed in. Everthing worked and...

We stayed three nights at this hotel. Enjoyed the garden breakfast and location. But had concerns over missing items that was not addressed by the staff.honestly. Then discovered we had left battery charger and leads in our room later. After emailing hotel requesting at our cost whether leads could be posted on, no reply. Very very disappointing. . .

Travelling with Indochina Odyssey Tours, we were put up at the Saigon Morin in Hue. What a lovely colonial style hotel right on the banks of the Perfume river. The hotel is decorated with pictures of colonial scenes and is reminiscent of more leisurely times.

We have a huge room with a double and single bed. The room has a luxurious feel and there were nice touches like the fresh flower petal motif on the beds and face towels. House keeping also handed us a bed time story to help us sleep! Breakfast was very good with the buffet in the garden near the fountain. It had a very relaxing feel and we were well fortified for a morning of sight seeing. There was a display in the lobby of beautiful embroidery by an artist who also demonstrates her work. The embroidery is exquisite and includes some examples of double sided embroidery.

Staff service was very friendly without being intrusive.
