“Beautiful old world style hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2011

This hotel is right on the Perfume river, close to restaurants and the Imperial city. This is a lovely French colonial style hotel with very large rooms. Staff were very helpful, and breakfast selection was great. The walls are lined with photos of dignatories and celebrities that have stayed there. Not as modern as others in the area, but with much more character.

This hotel was born in 1901, and it survived throughout the years. It was once called Grand Hotel. Today, the rooms have a quaint feeling, especially the wood on the floor and cupboards. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The front desk people are very helpful in making suggestions. When we were leaving very early in the morning (before the buffet was open), the hotel provided us with takeaway breakfast boxes, and the food was surprisingly tasty. The buffet spread is not particularly exciting. One thing I did not like about this hotel is that each room offers different facilities/features. I booked two rooms and paid for the same price. We were given adjacent rooms. One was much smaller than the other, and the hangers did not fit into the closet. Worse, the smaller room had only 15 cable channels while the bigger room had 50 over channels. I do not understand the discrepancy, and felt punished for staying in a smaller room with fewer choices on cable even though we paid the exact price for each room.

Part of a one end of Vietnam to other holiday with my wife.
Hotel selected via travel agent who had previously been a guest.
Hotel is located in middle of Hue adjacant to the river. It has undergone a number of renovations over the years since it came into being in 1901.
We stayed in deluxe room with a small balconey which was huge and spotless.
Hotel is a step back into the past and beautifully maintained.
Constructed in a rectangle layout which houses a garden and pool area in the middle.
Breakfast is served in the garden area, mainly western food and of a high quality. The staff and service where outstanding.
Across the river (over the bridge) to the right is a supermarket and still further left a 2 story local market, bargin hard
If you walk out of the hotel and turn right and stay on you side of the river for 250 metres you will come into the restaurant area, many choices.
Hue is the old capital and has some outstanding sites to visit.
Little bit on the pricey side when compared to other hotels in Hue, it appears most people only spend a few days in the area, so it is well worth it to treat yourself.

Tip: Try the local brand of beer called" Festival". Go to the top floor of the Imperial Hotel which is located almost behind the Saigon Moran for a view over the city.

We stayed in the Hotel Saigon Morin for 3 nights. I must say that the location of the hotel was fabulous as it is in walking distance to all the historic sites of Hue. The interior of the hotel is dated and the décor is not the most stylish but the service we received definitely made up for it.

The hotel is in beautiful location right on the river. I has an old worlde colonial feel about it. The room was huge but did have a musty smell to it. The breakfast was decent and upstairs bar had good view over city.

Hue was flooded and flooding when we arrived but the hotel was prepared. We had very large well equipped rooms, although they were rather a long walk from the lobby.
breakfast was ok, but the buffet in the evening was very disappointing. We stayed in because of the weather but we should have braved the floodwaters and gone elsewhere.

Room Tip: ask for one with a view of the river. unless you like a long walk, ask how close the rooms are to...

We stayed here for only 2 nights, but we whiched it had been longer. We had a lovely room with a balconly overlooking the Perfume River. The breakfast area is in a courtyard set amongst trees and fountains very peacefull. Would stay again.
