“Great location, and decent hotel”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

It's a big hotel in a nice location. Service was excellent, rooms were a bit dated. However, value was great - pool was nice, breakfast was tasty with good selection, and it felt very nice. We didn't have river view, but that would be pretty. Hotel is undergoing renovation - some minor noise and disruption, but nothing major. Spa on ground floor is nice, but not associated with hotel (e.g. you need to pay for spa services separately).

Dear Mr/Mrs Noahvl,
Thank you so much for having stayed in Century hotel and sparing your valued time to post these comments on tripadvisor.com. We have highly appreciated your feedbacks given. They are truly useful to us.
According to your review, we are pleased that your stay in our hotel was overall enjoyable. However, there were still some troubles (noise from renovation, inconvenience in paying for Spa service) at the time of your visit. Firstly, we would like to thank you for your sympathy for our every effort in upgrading hotel. We have commited to minimize any inconvenience caused and strongly trust that our hotel having new room facilities will satisfy our guest demands.
Secondly, we are delighted to know that you were satisfied about the quality of Spa service. We have collaborated with a company which offers Spa service professionally. In your positive opinion, we have changed the payment policy that allows customers to use Spa facilities and have the charges billed to their room so they can be paid at their convenience or upon their checkout.
Mr / Mrs. Noahvl, once again, we sincerely thank you for your useful comments and look forward to having a chance to welcome you back at the Century Riverside hotel soon.

With warmest regards,
Nguyen Thi Minh
Deputy General Manager

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, right on the river. From the outside, the hotel seems to be grand and luxurious but that is just the first look. The hotel is very run downed. They started to jazz up the building and the rooms but they keep putting guests on the floor where they still work. We spent 2 nights here. We were a small group of 13 people- all friends and the hotel gave us rooms on the level that was under construction. Filty corridor, the rugs on the floor were riped off just before replacing. The curtains were torn off. Bathrooms are old, molding, and water pressure is terrible. During our 2 weeks vacation around the country it was the poorest breakfast they served! There was a service desk on our floor, the phone ring even during the nights and the staff-maids were chatting loudly, we had to tell them at 5 am to shut up.The hotel definitely not a 4 star quality. The only good thing was the pool outside.

Room Tip: Choose other hotel!

Dear Mr/ Ms. Pincinke,
Thanks a lot for sparing your valued time to post these comments. They are highly appreciated and helpful to us. At the same time, we are truly sorry to know that you were not satisfied about your last stay (from 16th to 18th Mar 2013) in Century Riverside Hue Hotel, Viet Nam.
What we would like to explain is to satisfy our customer demands and bring them comfortable moments with very convenient rooms, we found it very neccessary to upgrade our hotel. List of items constructed is: replacing all room facilities and carpets in the hotel corridors, widening windows and balconies, refreshing ceramic tiles in bathrooms, repairing water supply system and repainted walls… During your last stay, almost rooms had been being under construction. Due to crowd of customers by that time, it was not finished in time. This affected the quality of your room although we tried our best to minimize troubles, dusts, noises,...during innovation time. We are truly sorry about that and expect your deepest sympathy. It will deeply encourage us to improve hotel facilities and to serve customers better.
We finally finished this innovation. Actually, the customers have satisfied about their current stay in our hotel.
Regarding the Buffet breakfast, we always serve rich buffet breakfast including Western, Asian, Vietnamese and Hue food. Actually, almost customers really love it. However, on the days you had breakfast, it didn’t satisfy your demand. We are truly sorry for it. After all, we have got valued experiences in caring about our customers and enhancing service quality.
Once again, we are truly sorry for all and we all would highly appreciate your kind understanding and your sympathy with us.
Looking forward to seeing you again and serving you better in your next stay.
With our warmest regards,
Nguyen Thi Minh ( Ms.)

I found a good price on Agoda so booked this one. Location turned out to be perfect. Right outside was an area with many restaurants, more aimed for foreigners but all sorts to choose from. There was a balcony and the view of the river was nice. I even skyped people and turned on webcam and they could see the boats go by! How nice.

Breakfast was busy...Chinese groups in a hurry it seemed. As SO often the case in Asia they don't specify between Double and TWIN when booking. So since traveling with a friend and you cant book a twin, you book a 2 double rooms as you don't want to sleep together. Then, as often the case, you have 2 beds in each room on arrival. Duh...they don't get it in much of Asia. Wish that could change!

When you walk out the hotel property if your a male you will be bombarded with guys on mopeds offering to fix you up with some BOOM BOOM. This can get very annoying. Since your in the area for foreigners though you just have to put up with it. Ive been all over SE Asia and never found a place as bad as this in that respect. it is a good area though and I don't think you would want to be somewhere far out.

The room itself was rather large, and for what I paid I was very happy. I wouldn't pay their regular rates though. If you are willing to walk 15 minutes or so you can get some very decent hotels for much less. Just look at the pricing and look carefully at google maps satellite and try to guestimate the distance they to walk and the savings you get. Being here by the river is nice. There is a night market too south of hotel and overall this is the area to be in. Grassy areas, sculptures, flowers etc. Nice to stroll around. Just learn to say NO when you see the moped coming before he can ask!

Room Tip: If the river view isn't much more, get it!

Some another area under renovation is quite dirty , they said that they are try their best to make the hotel better and give me their apology . Yes, i do accept immediately . They are so lovely .Very friendly and helpful staff , especially receptionist, porter and front desk staff . They make us feel like staying at home in Tet Holiday.

This is a grand hotel, well appointed and relatively cheap for westerners. It has lots of very helpful staff who speak good English. We had a fourth floor room overlooking the river, with balcony. The room was spacious but the bed a bit hard. our room was clean and had a kettle etc. but a bit dated. Even though the wifi router was outside our room, it didn't work and wifi generally was poor, we had to use DMZ cafe to get on Facebook. In fact Facebook is blocked on the hotel's wifi network which is bizarre. Breakfast is a grand buffet and eggs are cooked to order. A good location overall and lovely pool and gardens.

Room Tip: Riverside view is a must, the higher the better for great views over the river.

Hotel is located right on the river. From the outside, the hotel looks grand and luxurious but don't be fooled. The hotel is very run downed. Our party consisted of 3 couples and the hotel gave us rooms adjacent to a massive construction site. Loud hammering, dust and stains filled the corridor... we had to switch rooms twice. Bed mattresses are extremely old and worn... needs replacement. Bathrooms are old, molding, and water pressure is terrible. Do not expect to have wifi in the rooms as advertised.

BEWARE of the reception staff. Instead of just recommending a restaurant for a special event, the girl at the desk suggested we deposit money to her so she can make reservations for a certain restaurant. After making the deposit, she told our cab driver to take us to another restaurant across the street... a completely different restaurant from what was written on the contract. We were able to get our money back.

Quite nice and clean for Vietnam, people are friendly as always. Its a big hotel tho so dont expect much culture, but its well located right on the river. Beautiful restaurants and great food. Enjoyed our stay very much, although we got a last minute deal on rooms, not sure about the value for the rack rate.
